The only leather I was ok with was the Simona Bruno Allegrini one that is "washed in the sea". No problems with it.

When in doubt ask the strap maker what tanning process was used. Many OEM straps are chrome tanned because it makes for a smooth consistent finish on the leather.
Truth. Vegetable tanned shouldn't give you any problems.

Here is some superficial marks left from the grinder hitting my Marcello C bracelet.

I got similar damage on my Sinn. Got a little too close to a portable mixer in the lab; effect is about the same as if a grinder hit the bezel:

Marks aren't too bad, even though they look worse in person. I'm just bummed that it happened within the first 2-3 days of me receiving it...

I don't have the foto of it now. It was my first (BNIB) GSar. First day I wore it, and banged the head to the bulkhead on the seabus. That beautiful bezel got a ding badly. It almost made me cry! :crybaby:

And my new Seamaster GMT; I wore it once only before selling it. The first (And only) day I wore it, I managed to scratch the clasp by rubbing it to my lunch bag! :banghead:

The metal strap end piece came into contact with the clasp while walking. Since then, I'm carrying the bags on my left shoulder thus leaving the metal connection parts on my right side away from my left arm.

Lesson is taken ;-)

No pictures and an embarrasing story.

Being a newby to straps I accidently left the tubes in a leather strap on my PVD MTM Black Patriot. :banghead: I had to use brute force with pliers to get the damn things loose. Left a few scratches in the PVD. But I must say that the coating is pretty strong as I expected much worse. Oh well.... :htfu:

EDIT: Oh and had to destroy the strap as well :raised:

I did this to a friend's Hamilton Khaki handwind. I wasn't thinking since the spring bars seemed too thin for the strap and I ended up hammering the spring bars into the tubes. It required his $80 strap to be destroyed to mount the next strap.

Pretty sure this was the strap that gave me the rash.

In looking at the picture, I deserve the rash for buying it in the first place. :raised:

I don't remember how, but I injured my left wrist during 2012, and I had to wear my watches on my right wrist for about a month. In regards to bruises on the watches... I don't care about them unless they are on the crystal.

I'm thinking that 103 broke because of anal cavity pressure, not a door knock.
