Carving Knives
Carving Knives
I know we have some serious cooks and chefs around here, so what do you recommend for a carving knife? Basically, I am looking for more consistency in my cuts, and up to this point I've been using a chef's knife.

My 8'' chef's knife is my go to piece of hardware in the kitchen.
I like how solid and balanced they are, I would take German vs Japanese any day of the week for generic all purpose work.

I'm a long time Wustof fan too. Top of the line forged for most chopping tasks. Stamped works well for most slicing chores.
only accurate watches are interesting

If I had a dollar for every global i've seen snap at the bolster I'd have three.
Re: Carving Knives
Love Wusthof and they'll last forever but I'm the exact opposite. I do love their paring knife, though, and would recommend them all day long to an amateur cook wanting a good set.
My kit pretty much consisted of the following for 6 years and I loved them all:
-240mm Watanabe Pro Gyuto
-180mm Watanabe Pro Kurouchi Nakkiri
-Wusthof 3.5" paring

We've had our globals for 10 years, no issues. I've had other brands break in my hand thoughtattoo chef wrote:I agree. Not a fan of Global.sierra11b wrote:If I had a dollar for every global i've seen snap at the bolster I'd have three.

Perfect example of a DWC thread. Useful information, and derailment all rolled up in one.

its a tried and true formula
Re: Carving Knives
Bought a set of Globals of Ebay last year for a great price. Not a professional by any means but I love them so far. The 7" Santoku style gets a lot of use.

With "cock" and "game" in your name, it shouldn't be too "hard" to figure outgamecock111 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2017 12:40 pmAnd as always, the trick is figuring out the useful partsunsub073 wrote:Perfect example of a DWC thread. Useful information, and derailment all rolled up in one.
