New Gunny - awesomeness !

Post by Danny_T » Wed Dec 28, 2016 2:44 pm

Just arrived, punched the buckle holes, and mounted.

Taking the blue k2 sandwich dial to a level of superbness that only Gunny can. This is the Caitlin 6 leather strap and is absolutely delicious.

It's soft, flexible and conditioned like it's been worn for 10 years out the box. It's amaze balls !!

Is "gunny's" style supposed to look so..unrefined?

He just doesn't know how to stitch or make a strap thinner than 6mm.

I think you may need to order smaller straps. That buckle is up way too high.

I miscalculated on this one a bit. I normally prefer the short side longer to situate the buckle off centre on my wrist as it keeps the watch head centred on my wrist properly. I went thinner (4mm) on the strap thickness and thus caused the buckle to sit further than I intended.

Should have done 85mm instead of 90mm on the short side

It's a vintage distressed look which I asked for. I requested the intentional cuts also. I actually had him add extra 'unrefinement'.

He makes some extremely refined and very luxurious straps also. The Caitlin models aren't and are intended to look 'worn/aged'

What are you talking about? Sure he can. Look at his website/instagram. He can do anything. Thick, thin, luxury, etc

You know I've never been a fan. Every strap I've seen in person has been ridiculously thick and sloppy. Maybe he's improved.

He's definitely expanded his offerings since he's started.

There is a Deep Red on a Sea Dweller on his website - it was one he made for me and a photo I took.

Here's a more refined Caitlin he just did for me.

Too bad they're all going to have hairy pits/legs and stink like patchouli.

The strap looks to have been through an industrial dishwasher 100 times.

That's Gunny's secret "conditioner".
