Stand up desk for schools

I am pushing this at my daughters school right now. It is something I use at work/home also. I think it is a great decision. http://standupkids.org/

I have a stand up desk at work and rarely sit (only to compare large drawings). The standing doesn't tire me out. I think we were meant to stand.
Stress on the other hand wipes me out.

Love the idea, my oldest boy can't sit still.....and I mean can't. Not sure if he has ADHD or not (he's about to get tested). For someone like him, this makes a lot of sense.

our office is about 30% sit to stand workspaces. i haven't been at one yet, even tho we've moved around a couple of times. rumor is we'll be doing a shuffle again in the next month or two, so maybe i'll luck into one of them this time.

I am one of the few people at work who have a stand up desk. They will move your desktop up higher on the cubicle rails so that you have a permanent stand up desk. The one I have is a electric version though.

I have worked outside most of my career so I never needed a stand up desk.

My boss uses a stand-up desk; I'm happy with my old-fashioned chair and sit desk, though

Can do partial standup with a small platform for keyboard and monitor(s).

I've got a large standup desk and a rectangular table off to the side where drawings pile up.

We use too. But our company said it was a liability. So they stopped doing it. It became a huge HR issue. It was stupid to say the least.

Carl, I agree to a certain extent. But I can tell you that for me it feels great. It isn't a end all, but sitting on your ass all day isn't the correct answer either.

Carl, I agree to a certain extent. But I can tell you that for me it feels great. It isn't a end all, but sitting on your ass all day isn't the correct answer either.

Mixing it up is a good idea. My wife has a workstation set up on the treadmill at home :-)

While appropriate for schools, I bought myself an Ergotron Workfit-P stand up desk platform. It is a platform on a hinged arm which clamps to your existing desk. I have my monitor on the platform as well as my wireless keyboard and wireless mouse. You can sit or stand as you want.

I think the other benefit, even while sitting, is you can lift the monitor up to eye level to help ease strain on the neck and upper shoulders (stop hunching). It was a good $200 purchase.

Regarding the health benefits, Carl is correct - simply standing isn't enough. You need to move around. I use a wireless headset for conference calls and will walk around my office or stand on a balance board. The stand up desk simply gets your butt off the chair which, to me, is the first step towards moving.

I wish we could walk around while on conference calls. I work in a secure location so no wireless/bluetooth allowed.

My headset will cover almost the entire two floors of our space. Starts to get spotty in the cafe, which is the extreme furthest from my desk and one floor down.
