Does anyone like the Speedmaster 57s?
Does anyone like the Speedmaster 57s?
I never see them posted so I'm guessing they're not too popular. I'm considering one though. Of the vintage or blue, which do you think looks better?
Re: Does anyone like the Speedmaster 57s?
Love the top one. Great case size but a bit thick I recall.
only accurate watches are interesting
Re: Does anyone like the Speedmaster 57s?
I tried on a titanium white dial version and it was stellar.
Re: Does anyone like the Speedmaster 57s?
I tried them on at the Omega boutique and the finishing was incredible. It was thick but not too bad, and the crystal probably adds 2mm to the height. It's 16mm overall including the crystal.
I liked the vintage and the blue the best but can't decide. They both looked great.

they are gorgeous. I haven't tried one on yet so I can't speak to how they wear.
Drew had the blue one I believe and it was a forum favorite for awhile. Or at least his pictures of it were.

I tried the blue one on an Omega boutique and liked it a lot. Would happily wear either but I prefer the blue one.

I was obsessed with them when released but the price was prohibitive. Ended up with the previous '57 to satisfy the itch.

That's sharp. What are the dimensions? Handwind?jaw wrote:I was obsessed with them when released but the price was prohibitive. Ended up with the previous '57 to satisfy the itch.
I like the looks of the new one. The blue is gorgeous and the splash of red on second hand is just right

That's a tough call. Both are awesome and suit my tastes

That crystal seems like a doorbuck magnet. But 14mm without it isn't bad.pbj204 wrote:... It was thick but not too bad, and the crystal probably adds 2mm to the height. It's 16mm overall including the crystal.

I've been drooling over the '57 for awhile now but never took the plunge because it seemed a bit askew.
The new a al carte non-box set 60th is the cats meow IMHO, but the 3594.50.00 is still the way to go in long term serviceability with the 1861 and price for this style. Plus they occasionally pop up for a song in the used 3570.50 range.
Earlier 1861s (the non-hyped recent LEs ) and their variants still seem to be the way to go but now is the time to move on them...Even the solid Gold versions are bargains when they come up considering the amount of gold poured into that substantial twisted lug 42mm case, and far more doable without bracelet with bargains in the <$10K range. Kick myself for not jumping on a mint solid WG 3689.30.31 Moon for $8750 two years ago, but reckon one could still be had in that bracket. Rare bird, though...

Re: Does anyone like the Speedmaster 57s?
I like both of the 57's pictured above but a bit pricey...
Re: Does anyone like the Speedmaster 57s?
i think they both are hot. I really like the blue version for some reason though. MY only gripe with omega seems to be by limited experience with resale. I had a gorgeous piece for sale for quite a while and finally traded it. Just seems like ea soft market for omega.

seems like the msrp is 20% higher than it should be--as if Omega is covering the AD discounts...I certainly agree with you, they take a beating on re-sale.
Re: Does anyone like the Speedmaster 57s?
I tried on the white dial titanium version and it was smoking hot. ️
Re: Does anyone like the Speedmaster 57s?
It's real thick.

Re: Does anyone like the Speedmaster 57s?
I'm not sure why omega tries to make their endlinks such a prominent feature in the overall design of the watch, but this pictures shows why nobody else does it - it's not a nice look. It turns the watch from a watch head on the metal approximation of a strap into a weird watch wrist gauntlet.
