Maurice Lacroix at Touch of Modern at close out prices right now. Some nice Pontos S divers that are very cheap.

That's the same watch as the $4k Red Bar LE.

I assume so, as that is MSRP ($3,500 actually). It wouldn't be the first time I'm wrong, though. Perhaps ML gave them the ToM price.

$3750, actually. Pretty sure the 10 RedBar LEs have the distinction of being the only MLs to ever sell for list price. ;)

(All things considered, not a horrible watch...)

As for the topic at hand, while I've never been a Glycine fan, per se, I always respected the brand. Now... Honestly, even if Invicta leaves them be and let's them continue to operate autonomously, I'd still have a hard time putting one on my wrist given just how much I loathe that shit company.

That's not fair Adam... You probably got yours for free, so you're not in the same category as the other 9.

I wish, but no, I paid for mine just like everyone else. True, RedBar Group, LLC got a piece of the backend, but it wasn't all that much and I folded the money into our charitable fund.

At the end of the day, you can't reasonably expect a discount on LEs with such a short run. While Shorty likes to say that the RedBar LE is exactly the same as the standard production PVD Pontos S Diver, in reality it's an entirely different SKU with ten cases produced specifically for RedBar; i.e. they didn't just grab a bunch off the production line (FWIW, ML is one of a handful of manufactures that actually make their own cases). Ideally, there's more I wish we could've done the watch (delete the date window, for instance), but it was hard enough just to get our logo on the back, switch from orange to red and add the red-stitched straps.

Ultimately, whether or not it's worth $3750 is irrelevant; if you wanted one – I did, and so did 8 others (we kept one for posterity, though we might end up selling it later on) -- this was the only game in town.

As for our next LE, I can all but guarantee that you guys won't be hating on it. At all. ;)

All that matters is that you like it, but I still contend that you're nuts for paying list for a watch that routinely sells for 25-50% off MSRP no matter how irrelevant price is in anyone's book. At the end of the day, its nothing more then a plain jane Pontos diver with a different color scheme and caseback.
I do hope you can get things to turn around for the brand. They have some cool models and I am interested in future offerings.

I can guarantee that 10 LEs for a lousy watch club ain't turning shit around for the brand.

ML is my prediction to be the next one to bite the dust or be acquired by a shitty Chinese company.

We bang on about shitty Invicta, but if it's one thing I've learned in 27 years in business, "just good enough" and a robust ROI is a solid strategic business plan.

There's this guy (I won't name names) on the Facebook divers watch group....very popular, it seems....and his morning Invicta post is pure comedy gold wake-up. It works for him, though.

As far as Glycine is concerned....and I hate to sound like Mikey here (that's funny right there)...but vintage is the only way I'd go.

A guy that has been on this forum and is in touch mentioned to me a few months back: ML, FConstant, JeanRichard.......and maybe Glycine...

I guess he should be laying some bets in Vegas on his next visit....

I was trying to think of that crappy brand that a bunch of people on here were going crazy for. They will definitely go out of business in the near future if they haven't already been bought up.

I think JeanRichard is owned by Girard Perregaux. I think it is their "entry level" brand. My guess is JeanRichard will simply cease to exist. I don't think the brand is actually worth much of anything to anyone outside the Girard Perregaux company.

Option B would be for Girard Perregaux to be sold. I think they are still private.

On edit: G-P is owned by Sowind / Kering. My guess is if belts get tightened, JR will be shuttered.

As an aside, I kind of like the Aquascope, but it is accurately priced at Jomashop at $700. I'd never pay anything close to retail MSRP for one.
