None of my straps are incontinent so I don't really see the need.

You could probably cut some Kotex Light Days into strips and glue them in place, if you wanted to make your own.

It seems that nobody has ever gone broke underestimating the stupidity of the "WIS" market.

OK, dumb question, but who punches the holes in the liner? The manufacturer or the buyer? I guess I never really paid close attention to the hole spacing on my straps, but is there some standard for that?
Re: Band liners??? The "new" hot thing in accessories
I would imagine the the liner would be mesh and wouldn't really need holes cut?

That could be. The image made it look like there were distinct holes in the liner but I may be mistaken.dmckean44 wrote:I would imagine the the liner would be mesh and wouldn't really need holes cut?

While poorly executed in this case, I think if a proper strapmaker could implement something similar and play with different materials (rubber, etc...), it could be a good idea. Probably the primary moisture that destroys leather straps is disgusting stuff from your own wrist.
It'd be an easy-to-sell cheap product with probably high profit margin.
I actually like the concept.

I think that custom makers like Camille Fournet already offer rubber backing on their straps for this very reason. Not replaceable though...matt.wu wrote:While poorly executed in this case, I think if a proper strapmaker could implement something similar and play with different materials (rubber, etc...), it could be a good idea. You have to be careful though, or you run into the same issue as "topys" on a leather shoe - all that shit works its way around the rubber barrier and then never has a chance to dry because of the rubber overlay. It makes things stink and rot more quickly.matt.wu wrote:While poorly executed in this case, I think if a proper strapmaker could implement something similar and play with different materials (rubber, etc...), it could be a good idea. A solid shell cordovan strap would be a better idea since it's almost completely water impenetrable.

Ummmm.... a panty liner for your watch strap???? I'll pass.
No worries, I don't like leather straps on my dive watches anyway.

I guess it's a good idea for an average consumer who buys a watch and wears it on whatever strap it came with until the strap is worn and then he buys another strap often the same one that came with the watch or very similar.
Re: Band liners??? The "new" hot thing in accessories
Assuming this is for people to stupid to change out their own straps?

This reminds me, I have occasionally used a piece of moleskin on the inside of a strap to get a better fit if I'm between holes.

Metal usually. NATO occasionally. Leather on dress watches only.
I can't see myself needing this.

My first thought as well. Leather does fine with moisture as long as it is given time to dry and is cared for properly.JP Chestnut wrote:You have to be careful though, or you run into the same issue as "topys" on a leather shoe - all that shit works its way around the rubber barrier and then never has a chance to dry because of the rubber overlay. Now that was useful would never use the strap liner but a good idea to help with the sizing. I always make do. Then again I started wearing more perlon straps for this reason. Thanks for sharing the idea.hoppes-no9 wrote:This reminds me, I have occasionally used a piece of moleskin on the inside of a strap to get a better fit if I'm between holes.
Re: Band liners??? The "new" hot thing in accessories
I like the idea of liner to get fitting spot on. Otherwise it's kind of silly.
