My bro had his 2013 Jeep in the shop so many times he is trying to claim lemon law on it. But they are fighting him tooth and nail over it. At 32k it has had the hardtop start leaking within the few thousand miles, cylinder head replaced, oil sending unit, water pump and there was a few more things. He had to buy an extended warranty on it to keep it going.r.palace wrote:Couldn't have said it better myself

You take the bed off of them and use them as full time 5th rv pullers.andrema wrote:What the hell is that for, tractor pulls?zepp21 wrote:How about a Ford F-650

If I'm spending someone else's money, Macan S for a smaller SUV, Land Cruiser for a large SUV that will last decades.

Some people also install a 5th wheel in the bed and pull car trailers. I believe they're built for commercial use. I can't imagine using one as a personal vehicle, other than hauling an RV.toxicavenger wrote:You take the bed off of them and use them as full time 5th rv pullers.andrema wrote:What the hell is that for, tractor pulls?zepp21 wrote:How about a Ford F-650

The X4 is awkward looking. If you're going for that style, just pony up and buy the X6.andrema wrote:Did you test drive the X4? Seriously though....my wife has a 2013 X1 and it has been problem/maintenance free, but if I would've preferred the X3. Unfortunately she didn't see why until after she bought it.
Re: Getting a new SUV
There's a Jeep shop near me that will turn a jeep into a drag racer. Interested ? On Ardmore in Hermosa Beach. Bit of a trip though.r.palace wrote:Couldn't have said it better myself

My vote is 4Runner. We just bought a Sequoia, which can be a bit outside your price range but the base SR5 model can be had for less than $50k with leather. They come pretty loaded.

I own a 4Runner and will be keeping it to beat the hell out of. I figure it's good for 200K

Re: Getting a new SUV
Sorry, I missed this. I drove both the GLA and the GLC back to back, and they're very different. The GLC is significantly roomier, with more power. Also the GLC has a nicer interior, the GLA is very spartan. The GLA is built on the front drive platform of the CLA, although it's available with 4Matic. Somehow German and front drive doesn't compute in my brain. My wife actually preferred the GLA, but honestly if you're hauling gear I think it's pretty tight. The GLC is cavernous by comparison.andrema wrote:I had a GLA as a loaner, is it basically that with a different back end?blkgsl wrote:I haven't driven one, but this looks very promising. Re: Getting a new SUV
If well cared for, easily 200k. We traded our '05 4Runner for our new Sequoia and it had just hit 190k and ran like a top. Never had a single mechanical issue.andrema wrote:I own a 4Runner and will be keeping it to beat the hell out of. I figure it's good for 200K

I have an 08 BMW 535XI twin turbo Wagon as a daily beater. After a long line of M cars. Its right at around 150K miles. Great car. Usual German expensive shit once in a while. Much more reliable than the Grand Cherokee or GMC Trucks I have owned though. I also have a 4-runner great truck and a Tundra which are built on the Landcruiser drive train etc. Room enough for a family in the extended cab and plenty of power with good gas mileage and reliability. Love the Tundra.
