When I got my buzzard scout all I got was a can of whipped cream and a paper bag.

Anyway, at that price point I would go Seiko or Hamilton.

He's on a boat, I would want a screw down crown.

Bezel always comes in handy.

This or a Marathon TSAR/GSAR (not sure if there's space for an engraving though) & the aforementioned Spyderco.

I would include with the Marathon a Toxic springbar tool and a couple of ToxicNatos.
Bro I don't know if I can recommend Marathon anymore. I am up to 4 broken TSAR's now coming in for work.
Trit tubes can fall off the dial pretty easily.
These have been broken crowns, movement quitting and leaking. Crazy honestly.

Well, I did had problems with my TSAR, and you know all about them, I just thought it was bad luck.

My GSAR was solid though, in the short time I owned it

Thanks guys. I think I'm now good. I passed on pretty much everything you guys suggested. This question made me realize my brain is just a jumbled mess of watch info that I have difficulty conveying to others.

I found an Oris Aquis for $975 on bracelet, so that will be the top end. I think the Victorinox INOX may work well for him. Can't go wrong with any of the suggestions, so we shall see.

My wife and I are getting him a knife...so that's done, too.

Just for kicks, I searched for an SARB059, and there's one on Watchrecon within the budget.
http://www.watchrecon.com/?query=sarb059

I know the price on these has gone pretty high for a 6R15 Seiko, but I think a Scout would really appreciate the Alpinist and the fact that it's just as capable as an SKX diver on a boat.

I didn't get a gift or know anyone who did for making Eagle. I suggest they put the money in his 529 account.

I think Victorinox has a package with an Inox watch and Swiss Army Knife.

Apparently snowflakes in the OC require gifts? It's definitely not how I grew up, but oh well.

For an engraved new watch in that price, a Stowa would be my pick. An Antea or Ikarus or flieger would be classic, and Stowa has a lot of personalization options. Might consider a Weiss too.

Those customization options are cool.

I think the Inox is the way to go! With everything that you mentioned, and what the Inox is supposed to withstand.. I think it's a perfect match.

If the Inox had a rotating bezel I'd be wearing one right now....

You could get him a watch and a knife or two watches.

A SARB017 Alpinist is a great gentlemans outdoors watch and would be great for an Eagle Scout. You could use the balance for a sportier watch like the INOX for do anything grab and go. $395 from Chino today for the Alpinist with rotating compass, 200m WR, 6r15. Total winner.

Or maybe a Shogun for the entire amount?

Lost too many knives fishing! :crybaby:
