The Grey Nato podcast, worth checking out

Post by toxicavenger » Tue Feb 09, 2016 8:47 pm

Watch Journalists Jason Heaton And James Stacey Launch 'The Grey NATO' Podcast, A Look At Watches For The Real Guy https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/intro ... to-podcast

I just got done listening to the first release of it and I really enjoyed it. Pretty funny considering I really never consider myself a hardcore WIS by any means. :salute:

Good job Jason and James!

I can't get it to play on my iPhone. I have downloaded it several times and it tells me the show is not available.

Just finished it today - throughly enjoyable and have now subscribed.

Has anyone also checked out the "On Time" podcast from the LA Watch Gang - which is pretty good too - especially as when they talk about a watch they have pic of it on the play screen of the podcast.

The Grey Nato podcast, worth checking out

Post by Joeprez » Thu Feb 11, 2016 5:20 am

Pretty good, glad to now have two watch related podcast to listen to, after The Hour Time Podcast (Ariel Adams and John Biggs) stopped doing theirs (which was kind of crappy at the end).

The "On Time" podcast is my favorite so far. Cool hosts and I really like the music and pictures they add. Really makes a difference.

Really happy that more quality watch related podcasts are coming out. It really helps with visibility with more people discovering the genre within the sea of podcasts out there. I think they're onto something with the watches + lifestyle blend they got going on. More choice is always better since there's no way one-show-fits-all.

With On Time, we have mostly confined the lifestyle discussions (wine, cars, media, etc) to specific segments, but we might expand on that as we develop. So far we've really just focused on talking watches with our guests.
We have already talked with the Grey Nato guys, they're really cool, and we hope to do something with them down the line and vice versa.

As for On Time, we are finishing the editing, sound design, and images this weekend so episode 4 should be up soon. The guest we had was a blast to talk to so it should be a fun episode.

Very informative. I was interested to hear them contrast the Basel and SIHH shows.

Interesting idea. It will be good to see how it develops. Thanks for posting it Terry.

The content of the first one seems a little conflicted in the respect that although they bemoan the lack of anything at SIHH under $4K, they quickly jump to "under $2K bargains" and pricey dive trips. That leaves the floor well above Seiko 5 and a lot of micro territory.

I guess non of the iPhone users had an issue. It might be my issue my company scrimped on the memory and I have to delete watch pictures that I have on Photobucket. :cussing:

It did not say but maybe it is an memory issue, Another thing I don't have time to manage. :banghead:

Thanks for all the kind feedback and, more importantly, for listening, guys! James and I are having fun doing the podcast and simply want nothing more than to share our meandering chats with a few watch nerds who are willing to part with an hour of their time every couple of weeks. We're still new to this, but in the not so distant future, we hope to put up a site with photos of the stuff we discuss on the podcast and provide some links, etc.

Oh, and by the way, Episode 2 is now live! Always happy for feedback so keep it coming.
