Ares - unboxing
Ares - unboxing
Heading to meet my son for dinner and made a rendezvous with Matt to pick up the two I ordered. Dad will get his later tonight, but I’ll share some quick & dirty photos.
Sealed for your protection.
The burn bag is a nice touch.
Bubble wrap pouch.
A waterproof clear pouch to keep your cell phone dry during times of water activity or excessive lube. Nice touch.
Both black and green single-pass straps are included.
That lume!
It’s extremely cold out here! MG really provided personal service (don’t ask where his other hand is).
First impressions: the watch is absolutely better than I expected, with the bezel feeling more solid than the Sinn’s I’ve owned. Hands align well, seconds hand hits almost all the ticks. It just looks and feels great. Nice work Matt!

You all make a nice looking couple. I'm also wondering what your right hands are doing.

Re: Ares - unboxing
The lume is almost as impressive as the kiss.
Re: Ares - unboxing
Lume looks great - love a luted bezel, but this caught my eye and is a pet peeve with quartz sometimes. Can you explain the "almost" part? Just on some areas of the dial or off the minute markers a little all the way around the dial?

Congrats! Great of Matt to deliver them in person.

That is awesome, Hop. What’d you choose for serials? Sequential?
Excellent.
Excellent.
Re: Ares - unboxing
Regarding the seconds hand: I’ve never owned a quartz watch that always hit all the markers. The best ones hit most of the time and/or very close to the markets. This Ares hits spot on some of the time and very close on others. That said, if it bothers you don’t buy quartz.BacoNoir wrote:Lume looks great - love a luted bezel, but this caught my eye and is a pet peeve with quartz sometimes. Can you explain the "almost" part? That lume is insane.
Please explain the whole it feels more solid than any Sinn thing.
PS I found the actual, unedited photo:

I should have clarified; the bezel is what I was referring to. There is zero play, it is very firm with positive clicks.BBK357 wrote:That lume is insane.

We all know Sinn makes a very high quality product, but bezel play has been pretty common. This watch is, in my opinion, a heck of a deal at its price.

Todd
I dont know about the rainbow color effect but I heard you can get one of those amazon primed to your house like next day.
You know “for a friend”
Was that wrong? Should I not have done that?
Re: Ares - unboxing
Anyone else hear from Matt? I sent him a email, twice, asking if he could hold mine till I got home. I shortly received a shipping label after so guessing he didn't get it or I sent it to the wrong address.

I’m pretty sure he’s slammed with final pressure testing, packing, and shipping.zepp21 wrote:Anyone else hear from Matt? I sent him a email, twice, asking if he could hold mine till I got home. I shortly received a shipping label after so guessing he didn't get it or I sent it to the wrong address.

We had discussed meeting some time ago, so it was long planned.

Re: Ares - unboxing
Yeah, i’m pretty sure he’s been slammed. Tracking says minen should be here tomorrow. I bet he forgot the swag though. #rainbowdildo
I know he’s still alive, if barely, after starting a company from scratch and delivering initial product in roughly 9 months.
Puts some other ventures into a bit of perspective. Still, the dildo fulfillment is concerning; only time will tell.
