New Magrette Moana Pacific Pro Titanium

Post by AtomicTom » Tue Jun 04, 2019 9:21 am

Did everybody have time to see Magrette's latest in the Moana Pacific
Pro Titanium by chance?

This new watch has specifications like a 44mm grade 5 titanium case,
500m WR, AR coated double domed sapphire crystal, engraved, and
lumed ceramic bezel, black, or blue dials with BGW9 Super-Luminova
coated hands, and markers, and Sellita SW200-1 automatic underneath
a stainless steel case-back also.

Some pictures everyone...

titanium would make the MPP a lot more wearable. i like the looks of mine, but (a) wish it wasn't so top-heavy and (b)wish i hadn't experimented with rose gold (that one's on me). titanium should help with the top-heavy part.

As much as I LOATHE the date wheel in that spot, that black dial is calling me.

Greg, it's a great point you make about the weight, and it being more wearable. :)
But on the other side of the coin, that weight to the stainless has to really make
the Moana feel substantial. ..Oh, and by the way always thought that rose gold
was neat, and that it gave the watch a really rich feel. Maybe give it another go,
and enjoy sir.

Todd, yeah, you are right ! That black dial is phenomenal, and the way it works
with the outer black chapter rings, and bezel makes it feel even more dymanic.
By the way, just noticing the date wheel. ..Maybe it's even more stealthy on the
actual watch possibly. 8-)

Thanks a ton for your thoughts on these guys. ..Really appreciate it !

The blue dial/bezel insert against the titanium hue is very nice.

Right Eric?!

You kind of see a real metallic tone mixed with an almost slate blue, or gray.
Then they both play off of each other, and kind of combine. ..Really is cool ! 8-)

So happy you enjoyed sir !

Can't tell if that crown sticks out way too far for me or not since the photos were taken with the crown unscrewed but looks like it'd dig into the wrist.

It screws down right into the case.

(Pic from web but I have one coming end of month for review and can confirm at that time)

I agree w/the top heavy part 100%. I've tried different straps on mine to see if it evens things out, but it really hasn't.

Does yours have the colored spacer inside the crown like the one above? These look like they added a spacer similar to the Black Bays.

I won’t have it till end of month (they are not out yet).
I can check with Dion though if you like. Let me know.

Nah, I am looking at selling off some frugals and maybe a few mid range pieces and picking up another mid range watch, so watches are going out but not in until I get that settled.

The new Titanium version should be pretty nice.

I really liked my stainless version when I had it. Build quality was very nice. It wore comfortably on the wrist. I sold it along the way to fund something else though. I definitely would consider the new titanium version.

Pics of my past SS version.....

A few more pics of my SS version (for reference I have a 7 1/4" wrist)......

Image

crappy lume shot. Lume was very bright.
Image

Downward curved lugs hugged the wrist

Crystal was optically very clear and blue tint interior AR was nice
Image

It came in a really nice quality leather travel / storage case (real leather).

Great pics as always, Dave! I am tempted by the new Ti version. Even with the cockamamey date wheel!
