Oak & Oscar HUMBOLDT
OVERVIEW
The Humboldt is a rugged, 40mm, Swiss-powered automatic watch with a 42-hour power reserve, 20 ATM (200 meters) of water resistance, and an external, rotating 12-hour bezel.
The engine powering the Humboldt is the legendary, Swiss-made, ETA 2892A2, a workhorse calibre with 21 jewels, a substantial 42-hour power reserve, and the iconic Oak & Oscar 4-star rotor design. Founded in 1856, ETA has over 150 years of experience crafting some of the most accurate and reliable movements in the world.
Our stainless steel bracelet sits comfortably on the wrist with a fully articulated link design that gradually tapers from the 20mm solid end links to the 16mm buckle. Ready to tackle the elements.
The bracelet has 7 removable links and 5 micro-adjustments on the locking clasp. The bracelet will fit wrists from 6.2 inches to 9.1 inches (158mm - 231mm).

Re: Oak & Oscar HUMBOLDT
This is the first of their models that I don’t like. Somehow it looks cheaper than their others.
Probably just personal preference, even though I usually prefer SS bezel.

Agree with wu. It looks like a tissot or baume. Feels uninspired versus their chronographs.
Re: Oak & Oscar HUMBOLDT
Bezel looks like it’s been modded. At a glance I’d have guessed it was something from the jewelry counter at Kohl’s or Macy’s.

Re: Oak & Oscar HUMBOLDT
I usually am a fan of their watches and overall designs. I do not like this one based on the photos I’ve seen. Something seems odd with it, the bezel for one thing seems off to me and lacks contrast too. Seems very bland overall and less interesting than their prior releases. But I’m sure it’ll sell and i wish them the best with this new release.

Re: Oak & Oscar HUMBOLDT
From a pure graphic design perspective, the dial is pleasing to the eye, but as a watch, the super low contrast design makes it difficult to read/use. At this price point the Monta Oceanking seems like a much better buy. The Humboldt has the 2892, but the Monta's are supposedly adjusted to be pretty accurate.

Looks just like their first model the Burnham, with a stainless bezel and a bracelet.
I have to say, most of their designs are attractive (not exactly this one), but the finishing and details are not indicative of their prices. It just looks like a $700 watch not a $1650 watch.

Agree with everyone, their other watches are great (specially the GMT), but this one does nothing for me, even at half the price.

Looks awesome Terry !!!
Love the sandwich dial, and how it looks against the all stainless bezel !
It's like there is this controlled aggression thing that is going on with it
which is cool imho. ..Plus the name is just really awesome on top of it !
Thanks once again sir !!!

I’m not sure about the semi shiny bezel insert. I think it would look better with a brushed insert and a polished bezel top edge.
Re: Oak & Oscar HUMBOLDT
Put my order in for the blue on bracelet...the Owners pricing offer he sent out was a lot more competitive. At the list price I'm not sure I'd be a buyer, but I'm looking forward to it.

I have felt this way about everything I have seen from the brand. And yes this is after seeking them in person.tattoo chef wrote: ↑Wed Nov 28, 2018 5:28 ambut the finishing and details are not indicative of their prices. It just looks like a $700 watch not a $1650 watch.

Monta is in the same price range and it is on a whole different level imo.

Re: Oak & Oscar HUMBOLDT
The blue looks pretty good and I like the 12 hour bezel for a second time zone and the field watch12/3/6/9 dial is a fav.
Re: Oak & Oscar HUMBOLDT
Owners price on bracelet was $1575
I don't disagree. Monta is at a much higher overall quality than O&O at a similar price. However, I think that Monta is severely underpricing themselves for the quality they're providing. And, since this is watches, we have to remember that marketing is extremely effective, and O&O has great marketing, whereas Monta's is real bad.toxicavenger wrote: ↑Thu Nov 29, 2018 5:42 pmI have felt this way about everything I have seen from the brand. O&O has built a whole cult of personality, and spent a lot of time on branding himself and the company. I think that definitely has allowed him to price his stuff higher and still see sales.
I'll post up pics and a review of my Humboldt when it arrives and try to compare it to my Skyquest as well.
Re: Oak & Oscar HUMBOLDT
I have never understood the price on any of their models. I'd drop coin on Brellum, Monta etc but the Oak and Oscars always "looked" like micros to me where the Brellum and Monta appear more like luxury brands

I would really like to try out a Brellum. Had a Watchrecon alert saved for months, but seems the people who have them, aren't selling.ericf4 wrote:I have never understood the price on any of their models. Re: Oak & Oscar HUMBOLDT
yeah they dont sell often.....That said there are a few on ebay and even BNIB from Brellum they are a Tremendous Value. I also did a group buy here months ago and we got a great deal as well.3migo wrote: ↑Fri Nov 30, 2018 7:42 amI would really like to try out a Brellum.
