They've done an impressive job course-correcting; major kudos for that.

The watches and branding still aren't to my taste, but the quality is apparent in all the photos you guys have been posting. Seems like a solid watch at the price now.

I wasn’t a fan initially, but they are growing on me.

On these two new models I don’t understand the white date window, but maybe those are just renderings.

I like the Skyquest, but as Jacob pointed out earlier, that weird bend in the GMT hand is off putting.

I can see they need it in order to clear the indices, but it looks a bit like third world engineering to me.

If they wanted that dial design, they need to change the pinion length to raise the hands, or slim down the applied indices.

Skyquest looks way too busy. The blue dial variant though seems more doable.

I agree. Would have been great if they had custom matching date wheels; if not, white on black at least.

FWIW, relative to the GMT bent hand thing, Rolex addresses this issue by designing the GMT movement to place the GMT hand between the hour and minute hands. The Rolex GMT hand stack goes hour, GMT, minute, then seconds hand on top.

The 2893-2 (and clones such as this Sellita) go GMT, then hour, minute, and seconds on top. This causes the GMT hand to run closest to the dial.

Not to pile on, but isn't this:

Really similar in design to this:

We (justifiably) bash Ginault for copying the Rolex patented Glidelock clasp. I would expect a similar outcry for this.

IIRC, the Monta pending patent was for the circular friction fit clasp pin. I would expect a patent request for the Glidelock link extension copy to be denied.

I'm digging the OK Gilt and the blue version. I'm not feeling the gmts.

Do you still have your OK? How are you liking it long term?

I am wearing it now and I purchased a blue Triumph yesterday.
I like the new Ocean King models. If I can pick one of the blue or Gilt versions, I'll flip mine. They look great.

I think the crown guards are an improvement in the overall look of the watch cases. It helps make their signature crown style a little less prominent.

$1700 is the right spot for monta.

I find it interesting from a business perspective that these micros have identified a gap in the market and are stepping in to fill the $1,500-ish void.

When I first started getting into the watch forum thing about 10 years ago, for budget divers you had Seiko (SKX007, etc.) and then the micros stepped in to offer additional features (sapphire, ceramic, etc.) for similar prices.

It is interesting to see how the micro brand industry has evolved, with some brands looking to fill these voids with luxury-level finishing at what was previously entry-level Swiss luxury prices.

Ultimately, I'm not certain Monta is necessarily providing a stepping stone watch into a true luxury Swiss brand, so I don't see these micros helping to boost the overall Swiss watch industry.

Like what Monta is doing especially at that price point. The Skyquest seems a bit busy for me with the outer bezel, inner bezel, and all of the individual markings...I think the Triumph would still be my choice.

I agree. You used to be able to get a mint/complete Omega 2254 or Speedy Pro for $1500. Now, those things are hard to find quickly at any price.

The GMT is too busy for my eye. The gilt Ocean King is lovely though.

I really like these a lot and think I’m in for the OK diver. Love the GMT too but with the Farer and possibly replacing my B.B. with the new Tudor GMT I don’t want another GMT.
Also this case size will be perfect for me, even better than my Triumph. Their bracelet is the best. Really dig it.

Now which to order ?
