Marloe Watch Co.'s Haskell

Post by AtomicTom » Wed Feb 07, 2018 11:29 am

Just saw this one from Marloe Watch Company. How about you guys?

The watch was inspired by British Royal Navy Captain Robert Falcon Scott,
and the Terra Nova Expedition. Which is where he became the first British
explorer to reach the South Pole. It's named after the Haskell Strait ocean
passage that Scott actually crossed.

With details including a 40mm stainless steel case, 100 meter water resistance,
AR coated sapphire crystals, blue, green, white, and tan dial options with cool
markings, markers, and hands with BGW9 Super-Luminova, and leather straps.
In addition, the ETA 2804-2 is there keeping everything moving.

Just a few pictures everyone...

Very well done design. I really like the integrated date/6 marker, although it has a bit too much of a shadow.

"Marloe Watch Company is a new company, starting in 2015, but specializing in vintage-inspired, heritage-rich timepieces."

How rich in heritage can you be when you're less than three years old? This is a fairly nice looking watch, but ultimately pretty disposable to me. Who buys something like this for keeps? It's just a quick fix for watch buying junkies to be quickly flipped on some forum somewhere.

I’m thinking if you want to piggy back on British history, you could do better than the Terra Nova expedition. They did all die, after all.
If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.
