Borealis Estoril DWF Special Edition

Post by ChuckW » Mon Nov 13, 2017 6:35 pm

I haven't seen any mention of this on DWC, so in case anyone's interested, Borealis is re-releasing the Estoril, this time a pre-order of a special edition for the Dive Watch Facebook group. This one comes with a bracelet and has numerous varients. I'm not particularly high on micro-brands these days, but the Estoril is one of the more interesting ones, so I'm sort of on the fence.

No, it's not Tourettes.

Not a fan of the big DW on the dial.

It would have been cooler to have it on the caseback so that people who aren't a part of that group would still buy it. I have to say I have seen the first version in person and it is a really nice watch for the price point.

Now that’s a “tool” watch.

I always kick myself at first when I see the Estoril and realize I could have bought Andrea’s, but then again it would have been my third watch with that dial design.

These are actually very nice and well priced too. Miss mine, wish it had a bracelet like this one.
I mentioned to them on FB that the logo was a bit too large but no one cared to reply.

After looking all over the internet, I found one blue dial, large triangle with date in a Hong Kong online small store!! With shipping it came to $550 approx. The Estoril is a nice homage to the Omega SM300. It has the 9015 miyota. My bud in Greece made me the green NATO for it...
I guess the first edition was so popular, Borealis produced that S. Edition.

It would be much better with the logo on the case back.

I see zero advantage to ever placing a group logo on the dial. That's like getting your girlfriend's name tattooed on your arm hoping she's the one, but then she's not.

I to wish the big DW wasn’t on the dial. It just makes the dial a bit too busy. Otherwise a beauty of a tool watch.

Is there information on which movement will be running this? N35 (Seiko) or a Miyota 8 or 9 series? I would jump on this with a hacking Miyota 9 series or even the non branded Seiko hacking movement.

I love the sword hands.

Don’t pay in that range. Much better can be found with patience.

I looked and looked but none was for sale used. Even now few if any can be seen for sale. I was lucky to find one new, date and big triangle. :headbang:
