Ventus Mori

Saw these at Wind Up and I am kinda intrigued at $249. New batch includes SS cases. Preorders just opened, delivery in two weeks.

I know a couple of guys here have the bronze versions - thoughts?

The bottom one reminds me of the JLC Tribute to Polaris, but only if I squint and keep the phone at arms length.

Lose the inner ring of dots, make the hands bolder, then maybe.

I actually like these. In addition to the JLC, it has a vaguely Omega SM300 look to it. Too bad Omega was too stupid to save the fake vintage lume for the black dial only. These guys had the right idea keeping the piss lume off the blue model.

You don't say?

Serious question - how did these guys manage to design this watch without DWC telling them what finish, lug width, movement, and size to make it? It's almost like they were capable of doing the work themselves!

my biggest issue is the hands, especially the hour hand, being a big small. i thought it might bother me, and it does, but not necessarily a "can't stand it" issue. more just annoying.

but the initial cost seemed worth the risk and i was looking to try out brass/bronze as well as a sandwich dial. may move the brass one in the next few weeks as part of a sell off of less expensive watches i don't wear much any more and consolidate a bit.

i do like the look of the black/black.

Tiny hands are desirable on a girlfriend, but not on a watch.

The one I had briefly was well built. The hands are more exaggerated in the pics, but they should've beefed them up in round two. They seem to be one of the better built micro values out there. The build on this was equivalent to that of the Seaforth IMO..Seaforth bezel was actually a bit inferior to this.

after they started the kickstarter, a lot of people were complaining about the size of the hands in comments. they said they would consider revising them and a bunch of other people started complaining that they'd backed the watch with the hands as is already (understandable), so they changed their minds.

it is kind of a bummer that they didn't revisit this with the next round, since it's not a kickstarter and they're free to revise more than just the case material and colorways.

Ya know, I usually take other people’s posts to dark places. This was really not intended that way, but I guess it serves me right.
