Case design details of the Crepas Tornado
Case design details of the Crepas Tornado
I'm not sure how all the pieces go together, but it's definitely not an off-the-shelf micro. The weight differences are acrylic vs sapphire.
They changed manufacturers since their troubles with the Tactico Anko, so hopefully it shows in the quality.
The first wrist shot from WUS. Domed crystal is a bit reflective (No AR coating), but the finshing looks excellent.

Guess I'm a sucker for an orange dial and ss bezel, and do like the case shape as well. However couldn't do that bubble dome.
Re: Case design details of the Crepas Tornado
Agreed. It looks like a nice watch, but that crystal is bananas.

The ratio between the crystal diameter and bezel width is a no go for me. Reminds me of that Kobold I couldn't stand

What is the hatch for? Liquid filled?
It could have been a contender, but they ruined the dial with that date window. That said, it’ll still sell.

Do both the acrylic and sapphire have that over exaggerated dome?

I like the watch, the quality of the machining in some of those photos looks a little crude though. Is this just a prototype?
Re: Case design details of the Crepas Tornado
Yeah. The original had a high dome and they've kept everything as close as possible.alis_aquilae wrote: ↑Mon Sep 25, 2017 7:38 amDo both the acrylic and sapphire have that over exaggerated dome?

Re: Case design details of the Crepas Tornado
I think the worst is the rough finish that through-case back screw hole on the inside of the case. I know no one will ever see that hole, plus it is a macro shot so everything looks worse that it is, but dang it looks rough.
IIRC, that screw is to secure the movement holder to the case. Kind of an odd design (for example, other single piece case designs such as the MM300 don't use it) but it is true to the original.
I guess the watch would be an interesting conversation piece, but like that Rolex Deep Sea Special homage that came out a few years ago, I think a conversation piece is all this would ever be.

I hope they add a movement holder.

I doubt it. One flick of the wrist during a round of frisbee golf and my dial is screwedAxelay2003 wrote:I hope they add a movement holder.

It will be when the screw falls out.hoppyjr wrote:What is the hatch for? Liquid filled?

Both dome, both same size. One acrylic One sapphire.
My only question is if the sapphire has a bad glare.

Wow. I hate that I like it.

A couple from this morning. It was still very dark outside though.
I love the shade of yellow. In fact, I wouldn't really call it yellow. It's more of a vintage faded orange.
It's nothing like the Seiko yellow, which is probably the more typical color.

I'm tempted to do black/acrylic

This is a pretty jack up thread. Such a pet peeve of mine. When the "fine details" like this are skimped on.
Other wise the watch really looks good.
