Just got this in today. Decided not to mess with the bracelet at all and just put it on the Haveston Carrier. This just strike me as more of a NATO watch anyway, so it'll live on either the Haveston or one of my many Toxics.
First impressions are pretty positive. This is my first Helson, and I know they had a good following. Now I understand why.
Polishing and brushing appear decent. Brushing is very lightly done, leaving the stainless an almost "mat / grained" finish which I like. Dial is clean with no dust or anything suggesting shoddy workmanship. Lume is strong and evenly applied. Bezel action is "deliberate". I wouldn't say "tight" necessarily, but the click spring is strong. There is zero backlash and the detents are clearly defined. The prominent bezel teeth (well, at least more prominent than those found on authentic SM300's or even more closely designed homages such as the PRS-14 and Estoril) make turning the bezel not an issue. I actually think this might be a reason Helson specified such as strong click spring. With these grippy bezel teeth, a weaker spring could allow for accidental bezel movement.
For about $675 delivered, along with spare shoulderless spring bars and a tropic style strap, I think it was a pretty good deal.

What are your impressions on the Ginault Brice?

I like it a lot. More than I expected, glad i got this version. It’s a bit more interesting and the colors work well together. Case is very made as is the bracelet. Crown feels super solid, thick tube, no play, and super nice winding. Timekeeping is excellent. Dial also is very well made and crisp under the loupe.
The bezel on mine is super hard to turn, my main complaint.

Re: What Microbrand are you wearing today ?
^^^ The bezel will loosen up with some turns. I don't know what the situation is, but the loaner Ginault sent me was the same way. I even went so far as to put a drop of silicone lube under it (the click spring is located around the 6 o'clock side) to see if that would help.
I casually spun the bezel on my loaner while sitting on a con-call one afternoon and now it is much easier to turn. I think the click spring just needs to break in a bit.
From what I've read, the bezel is supposedly designed to work most smoothly when pressed down while turning.
FWIW, I find I prefer the stiffer bezel click spring on a prominent bezel such as found on my new Helson. If it had a weak spring, it would probably get spun just by my shirt cuff. With the lower profile bezel such as on the Ginault, you kind of need an easier spring as there isn't as much material to get a grip on to. Just my opinion based on having them both sitting on my desk in front of me at the moment.
