Nodus Watch's Trieste
Nodus Watch's Trieste
Did a search to see if anyone had talked about these. Saw that Brice has been enjoying
some prototypes from them, and read an article at Microbrand Watch World everyone.
Nodus Watches is based right in L.A. with their watch the Trieste getting it's name from
the historic deep sea submersible that made it's amazing dive into the Marianas Trench
in 1960. With the 41 mm watches coming in stainless steel, and stainless with black PVD.
A few other details include 200 meter water resistance, double domed sapphire crystals
with blue AR coating, burgundy, blue, or black sapphire bezel inserts on 120 click uni-
directional bezels, nice black dials with BGW9 Super-Luminova hands, and markers, and
Swiss STP1-11, or Seiko NH35A automatics. Seems like there are NATO, and canvas options
also, and the watch comes on a stainless steel bracelet too everybody.
Just a few pictures...

Re: Nodus Watch's Trieste
I had a chance to check it out. Excellent build quality, great job of regulating the movements, nice bezel action, AND a micro that didnt do the preorder thing to finance their watch production!

yeah, the hands kinda kill it.
Nodus Watch's Trieste
Every time I see the name I think of the word 'triste' which means sad in Spanish. Sometimes the name of a watch model really does weigh that much in a decision to buy. I'm aware of why the owner chose to name it as such; still doesn't make it any better.
Many will register, few will last

Triste means sad in French too yet that never came to mind while wearing the watch.r.palace wrote:Every time I see the name I think of the word 'triste' which means sad in Spanish. Re: Nodus Watch's Trieste
I have two models, the SS burgundy bezel and PVD blue bezel.
The SS is obviously more versatile and can work in an office environment with a dress short. But also it allows the beautiful case finish and chamfers to stand out more.
Yet I prefer the PVD, it's pretty cool and I am not really a PVD watch guy.
The watches are assembled and regulated and their Cali shop. They first attempted to have watched made in Asia like most micros and weren't satisfied with the results.. a spec of dust under the crystal on one, a misaligned date or bezel on another, poor timing.... so they switched to do their own assembly and regulation in 4 positions documented on a card that comes with the watch. The wood box and cleaning cloth are a nice touch too especially a the price point.
The size is great, a good compromise for many.
I will admit I didn't like the hands when I saw the first pics and told the owner they were a bit odd for me. But he offered to let me rest Drive one and I must say I was impressed. The hands don't bother me and I was impressed with the watch overall including fit and finish, timing and the packaging too.
At 350 for the Seiko auto version and $500 for the Swiss SPT one it's a great value.
I would prefer straight hands and wider middle link on the bracelet other than that I really dig it

According to a post of theirs, the hands have been the most controversial aspect of the watch. Love it or hate it for the most part. It wasnt a deal breaker or maker for me.

Re: Nodus Watch's Trieste
Yowza guys, thanks so much for the reviews, and all of the cool insight about these !!!
Really love the whole made right in California thing, and how they actually regulated the
movements too. Also have to say that the hands are phenomenal honestly. I mean the
watch would be fine with regular hands, but with these they pull away from the pack !
Also like how the angle of them mirrors some of the markers !

The lighting makes the strap look brown, it is closer to a green color.

Style is right, size is right, price is right.
But those hands are deadly. And not in a good way . . .

Worse than the Bathyscaphe, and I'm not really a fan of that watch either.

Re: Nodus Watch's Trieste
Me either. There's too much landscape between the indices for me and that crater of a gap between the case and strap is horrid. For the price tag, I would have expected more. Not like I'll be in the market for one at any point in the near future, but I wouldn't if I had the spare scratch.

Re: Nodus Watch's Trieste
I thought the Bathyscaphe worked surprisingly ok. I'd never buy one, or any BP, but it looked better than I expected in person.
Re: Nodus Watch's Trieste
I want another one in Ti or SS
To each is own, some watches I see I throw up in my mouth but dont say anything
