Ocean Titanium 500 GMT Premium
https://www.steinhartwatches.de/en/dive ... _term=More
The STEINHART Ocean Titanium 500 GMT Premium is our contemporary interpretation of a divers watch classic par excellence and comes up with many remarkable details, such as the extremely robust and at the same time very light case made of satined titanium. Additionally, it has a from the inside double anti-reflective domed sapphire crystal, which is framed by the unidirectional rotating diving bezel with its glossy black and blue ceramic inlay whose engraved markings were generously equipped with luminous material. This also applies to the pointer and the dial, whose light blue accents emphasize discretely the character of this modern sports watch. Inside the Steinhart OCEAN Titanium 500 GMT Premium the movement 2893-2 premium of the Swiss company ETA performs its extremely precise service. The beautifully decorated movement is visible through a sapphire - crystal bottom. Whether on a titanium-, rubber-, synthetic- or leather band, the STEINHART Ocean Titanium 500 GMT Premium always leaves a cool impression, a must for every watch fan.

Re: Ocean Titanium 500 GMT Premium
At least we have the dial to remind us it's a TITANIUM GMT in case we forget while wearing it.

They wouldn't want you to forget and thinks it's a blue/black Rolex GMT2.

I had an Ocean 1 once for about a second and a half before I wanted to sell it. Kudos to Steinhart though. Most likely is the best selling line of all time between all microbrands.

Steinhart produce very solid, quality homage pieces. I really like their Titanium 500 and have almost pulled the trigger a couple times now.

Re: Ocean Titanium 500 GMT Premium
I've seen some other pics of this and the Ti diver, and they appear to have a problem with the finish looking different on the bracelet and the case. Especially noticeable where the end links connect. I saw one pic that looked like someone had attached a titanium bracelet to a steel watch. Not attractive at all.
(Disclaimer - I've never seen any of these in real life so don't know how it actually manifests).

Different grades of Ti for the head and bracelet?

Re: Ocean Titanium 500 GMT Premium
This watch is almost what I would consider a perfect travel watch.
I wish Steinhart had ditched the blue and black ceramic bezel insert and just done a standard (or better yet matt finished to go with the flat Ti case) black divers elapsed time bezel insert. It was cool when Rolex did the black and blue ceramic, but now it seems every micro is doing it. Just overdone in my opinion.
I would move the GMT 24 hour scale onto the rehaut and ditch the 60 second scale. This way I could track 2 time zones and still use the bezel to time things like parking meters, meetings, workouts, etc.
If Steinhart made those changes I would almost certainly buy one as my travel beater. As it sits now it is a bit less "copy watch" than the Squale GMT, but still too much with that bezel insert.

It's certainly derivative, but is pretty nice looking and seems like a good value.

Re: Ocean Titanium 500 GMT Premium
I like the brand and they give decent value for the dollar, but there styling is just shy of ideal.
Dump some dial text as mentioned (most brands can benefit from that) and quit with the Rolex copy bezels. A nice basic aluminum bezel is fine, but this watch would be better with a solid engraved bezel.
Close but no.

Re: Ocean Titanium 500 GMT Premium
If it had came with an all black bezel, I would be in for one. Elapse time bezel would have also been better. Basically a Pelagos alternative with GMT.

Rolex design engineers are totally ripping off Steinhart ideas...

This one is actually more than just a straight clone, so I don't mind as much.justsellbrgs wrote:Rolex design engineers are totally ripping off Steinhart ideas...
Still think they should do more original work but am guessing this is where the money is...

No, they took the bezel from the GMT2 and the 24h hand from the explorer 2 AND PAINTED IT BLUE!jeckyll wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2017 8:17 amThis one is actually more than just a straight clone, so I don't mind as much.justsellbrgs wrote:Rolex design engineers are totally ripping off Steinhart ideas...

Re: Ocean Titanium 500 GMT Premium
I'm less annoyed with the GMT hand as there are only so many ways to design a 4th hand so that it stands out yet is clearly not the hour or minute hand.
I also like a GMT hand design to allow ample space for the application of lume, as I have the experience of being in Europe in the late evening looking to see if I can call to say good night to my kids (or waking up at 4AM Pacific to say good morning). GMT hands without lume aren't really useful to me.
I have more of an issue with the GMT2-alike bezel insert. If Steinhart wanted to carry the blue and black theme to the bezel, I think a blue and black diver's bezel (kind of like what is found on the SKX009 except blue and black) would've been interesting, and a heck of a lot more practical for everyday use. Just put the GMT scale on the rehaut.

Re: Ocean Titanium 500 GMT Premium
It's not the worst I've seen, but Steinhart's logo leaves something to be desired IMO. Even that is derivative of the Rolex crown, though more comical. It reminds me of something you'd see on a watch in an Archie comic book.

Re: Ocean Titanium 500 GMT Premium
Really bad photoshop hack, but this is kind of what I would've liked to have seen:
Much more practically useful and would make for a great budget travel / vacation watch.

Re: Ocean Titanium 500 GMT Premium
where's the 24 hour scale, though?
Re: Ocean Titanium 500 GMT Premium
It's not too bad I kinda like it and may pick one up used in the future.
