Karlskrona Artillerist Basic Field Watch - Specifications and Renderings
^ actually, those three don't look anything like the proposed design. Not to mention, those are dive watches and the proposal is a general-purpose everyday field watch concept.
It borrows many design elements from the much loved Sinn EZM line, but would obviously come in at a lower price point (and without AR gas, copper sulfate capsules, and German machining).
I also see the rendering in brushed finish (likely because the software only shows as such) but it says it'll be a bead-blast finish, which is good.
I'd like to see a couple spec changes;
- longer minute hand or shorter hour hand (or both)
- lume the seconds hand.
- different lume (BGW9 and generously applied, or better yet the new Tritec crazy lume that was mentioned the other day)
- maybe a slightly domed crystal?
- put Karlskrona logo on dial, but leave other crap to case back. Alternately, do brand name and model in red, leave Alterist and depth reading to case back. Keep it clean.

I like the rendering thus far.
I do like the "Artillerist" on the dial.
Lume the red tipped second hand.
Shorten the hour hand by 1mm.
Lengthen the min hand even with second hand.
12mm thickness is juicy.
Be sure the lug holes are not placed too far out like the ......

Thank you all for your input. I will continue to work on the design and try different elements.
One spec I am back and forth with is the lug width. What is everyone's thoughts on 20mm vs. 22mm?

I like 22mm from a visual perspective but 20mm is more comfortable for me tl wear. At 41mm width i think you could go either way. But my vote would go to 20mm.

I agree with the changes to the hands. Also, lume should go a bit more toward the center to keep them from looking too stubby. I'm not sure about the 12:00 marker, but maybe it grows on you over time.Axelay2003 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2017 10:21 amI like the rendering thus far.

At 41mm x 48mm, the 20mm lug would be best. Sinn 103 pretty much has the same dimensions and 20mm just looks good aesthetically and as is mentioned above, comfortable as well.
It's a beautiful world! Gerald.
Re: Karlskrona Artillerist Basic Field Watch - Specifications and Renderings
My Tudor Ranger was about the same specs, but had 22 lugs. That was the only thing I didn't care for on the watch.

Leaning towards 20mm. Once I finish the tweaks, I will build a prototype.

Should I offer a Quartz model as well? Do you feel there is enough interest out there for it?

I think the market for a quartz field watch is there but that would require you to market to non-wis much more. If you plan to keep your marketing within WIS circles stick with auto movements.Bradystraps wrote:Should I offer a Quartz model as well? Do you feel there is enough interest out there for it?
I personally have been looking for a robust quartz field watch in a traditional case style. 38-40mm, 46mm L2L, 12mm or less thickness, sapphire, 200m WR, jeweled quartz movement, 5 yr battery life, screw down crown, 20mm lug width, excellent lume, date at 6 or no date, and brushed case. Needless to say nothing found yet. But my one potential purchase doesnt make a business case. I actually love the size and shape of the CWard trident c65 vintage, unfortunately that isnt quartz or a field watch style.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

OK... so I have decided on 20mm lugs. I think this spec fits the size of the watch best and will be more comfortable. I believe this watch will be ripe for many strap options.
Here is the latest rendering which includes shorter hour hand, longer minute hand and lumed seconds hand. Comments welcomed as always!

I like it, not at 41mm but I know I'm the minority here.

Aw heck, I assumed on both counts.
Terry PM'd me and confirmed that Andrea is a gender-neutral Unicorn.
My bad.

Do you gents think the rally style strap fits this style watch or no?
Re: Karlskrona Artillerist Basic Field Watch - Specifications and Renderings
I'd deliver this on a ToxicNATO. You could offer a canvas or sailcloth if you wanted, but the watch begs for a nato or mil type strap.Bradystraps wrote:Do you gents think the rally style strap fits this style watch or no?
