New Farer GMT Automatics
New Farer GMT Automatics
You guys remember talking about Farer Universal not too long ago right? Did you have time
to see their new GMT Automatics?
Looks like there are three new models in the Lander, Oxley, and Ponting. With the Lander
paying tribute to explorer Richard lander who explored Nigeria many times in the early 1800's,
and displaying a sunray sea green triple step dial. Then you have the Oxley which gets it's
name from Yorkshireman John Oxley who was a surveyor of Australia after retiring from the
Navy. With it's matte black dial, and white chapter ring. Followed by the Pointing which pays
homage to Herbert George Ponting, the photographer who was with Robert Falcon Scott on
the 1910 Terra Nova Expedition to Antarctica with it's silver sunray dial everyone.
Each watch has a polished, and brushed 39.5mm stainless steel case, AR coated boxed cased
domed sapphire crystal, 100m WR, tapered bronze crown, nice accented hands, and markers
with Super-Luminova, ETA 2893 GMT automatic, and Barenia bridle leather strap.
Some pictures for you...

The rotor decoration is awesome but not sure about the multicolor hands. Also, the $1500 price tag could be better as well.
Re: New Farer GMT Automatics
Tom I actually like those. The black dialed version is cool. I would have the GMT hand painted red though.

I like these a lot but I struggle with with the price point for a somewhat new brand. I'd love one but wonder if it'd be a bit small

I've sworn off micros, but I like these a lot. The design is fresh and different, without trying too hard to be fresh and different. Not obviously derivative (of anything that immediately comes to mind at least), and they seem to get the details right. But I'd like them even more in the $800 range.

Why did they go put a gold crown on these?
Re: New Farer GMT Automatics
I like it. There is a lot of different colors, but they seem to mostly work. There are a lot of boring field watches out there - I give them kudos for standing out.

Re: New Farer GMT Automatics
I met the principals of Farer at the Worn and Wound watch Expo at NYC last year. Nice bunch of chaps. They only had quartz offerings at that time and they were pretty nice in the $400 range. these are nice as well but I must agree that $1500 might be a bit steep for a micro. I do like the first one though.

Re: New Farer GMT Automatics
I like all three of those quite a lot and a gmt is next on my list then I'm done (famous last words ) but those three seem overpriced. I'll wait until one of you guys flips one
Re: New Farer GMT Automatics
Didn't want to start a new thread, really digging the blue dial.
Anyone bought one of these yet?

Re: New Farer GMT Automatics
yeah 39.5 is gonna be hard but it looks like it's all dial.
I have to say this is one of the most remarkable "micros" I've seen
