Website changes??? Suggestions???

Post by toxicavenger » Mon Feb 13, 2017 6:14 pm

So Wu (yes Master Wu  ) and Ralphy mentioned in another thread about adding a filter to my site (thanks guys!!!!! :salute: ). The other thing I had done was to put all of the items for sale all on one page for easier visibility. Since I think it was an issue on a cell phone to figure out there are other pages of the catalog.

At the same time I had my developer arrange somethings so it look more centered. But I honestly don't have a fresh pair of eyes on the site.

So I am asking you guys, if you find anything that doesn't work/look right/or needs more features, then please let me know so I can make this a better experience for everyone.

Thanks once again for you support!!!

T-boner!

P.S. here is a snippet of the filter that was added.

I'll be blunt...

I sometimes find navigating your site to find a product a PITA.
i.e.. the Herringbone weave nato you have .. I had to dig around to find it.
I think you should have all your products listed on one single page.. no need to fuck about guessing which category it's in.

As an example.. just gone to your site.. you have featured 'Featured Collection', 'Best Sellers' and 'Recently Viewed'.. but I still don't see the Herringbone.
So I go to Catalog.. scroll through, still don't see Herringbone.. then look again.. and I see it under Toxic Sniznit.. really not clear at all !

Instead of "Catolog", put Products.

Maybe I can include "herringbone" in the title of it then so it can be found easily? And do you think I should just put the whole catalog on the front page? It would make it more simplistic for sure.

Since I crashed my site last time I have been slowly changing it to make it better than before. :crybaby:

T,
on my order saturday, my cart timed out twice before i could locate the three items i purchased, add them to my cart and check out. if that had been my first experience with your site or products, i might have given up before i could pay.
your product and service level deserve an easier to navigate and functional site.
it doesn't need to be flashy and superfluous, as that's not your aesthetic, but it does need to be seamless and efficient.

Good point. Let me check that out. :salute:

I'd further refine your catalog. Have two broad categories:
Products - straps, tools, springbars, now the watch roll
Services - all the watchmaker stuff

Refine the products to:
Straps - maybe refine this further: NATO, Zulu, leather or something like that
Tools
Accessories

I think that would make it much easier to navigate.

What about a DWC strap? Something distinctive but tasteful. They can even engrave your buckle with DWC or HTFU :)

Add "Danny's favorites" and stick your least popular colors there.

As opposed to a drop down, this is another option

I struggled with this too. Straps should be in a separate, easy to find category from Accessories so you don't have to sift through both. It is hard enough to shop for NATO and canvas straps as there are many varieties and the differences are very subtle.

I think categories might be an improvement also. On my phone the menu button is not working right now.

That would work too. Or, as much as I hate bringing up a competing website, but NATO Strap Co has a good website. However it seems like they list each item individually, whereas you list each type of strap you sell, and in that you can pick the color and size. With that said, your products are superior.

From the descriptions, I can't tell if one type is stiffer or softer than another or tighter weave, etc.

I'd suggest a "feature comparison" chart showing the differences in each type of NATO strap.

Not just the differences, but maybe a section/page to explain the history of the nato strap.

I didn't even notice you have a blog section and not sure it's the right place for a product comparison. Since it's associated with selection of which type of strap to buy, I'd put it at the top or on a side bar of the main page showing all different types of straps with a tag line of "Not sure which strap is right for you? Click here for a comparison chart for all ToxicNATO straps."

Okay from what I got from everyone is I need some sub-categories. So I will work on that asap.

Roger you have a great suggestion also. I will try and figure out as a long term goal. Since I have to get some comparison pics done and some code work to integrate it.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. It has been great to hear some feedback.

Terry your products are far superior to what NSC offers. I had to dig out one of their 24mm straps on my Suunto Core, and realized that your straps are longer than NSC's. I have to get their 12" to be able to tuck the tip back into the hardware, whereas on yours I don't. But I wouldn't trade the quality of your products and, more importantly, your customer service for a better site.
