Watchmakers digs!
I went to see my watchmaker (about my SRP that flew south on me) and I thought I would take some pics while he was working. I did not show his whole shop since they is a safe and a few other things that shouldn't be shown but it is a cool joint with a ton of history. His Dad started this gig after watchmaker school in 1947 and now (his Dad is in the foreground) the son runs it. His Dad is now 91 years old, so his son still picks him every morning and brings him to work, but he only works on his personal watches now.
Today my watchmaker had his hands full working on a JLC Alarm, he wasn't liking it to much but he said they can be tough.
This is only part of his bench stock but he has a ton of parts.
Pressure tester and a bench mounted buffing wheel in the back

He actually does and he has parts stored all over the place. He said at one time Rolex was decent to deal with about buying parts, so he was able to get a bunch of them in the 80-90s. He said after that they became a pain in ass to deal with. Even though he was licensed through them.aikiman44 wrote:Very cool. He's got a lot of space.

It took me 4 years to find him. I dealt with other not so good watch-battery changers in town with no luck. My guy has never advertised and he stays busy without it, so that is why I couldn't find him at first.59yukon01 wrote:That's great that you have a local guy like that to work with. Nope, Duarte is in Maine and he is a modder, he doesn't do any movement work. And his prices are so cheap for mod work you can't compete. So that is why I recommend him first for certain types of work.BBK357 wrote:is that duarte?
I have another watchmaker on tap down south for other work also. He can even hand maker movement parts if they aren't available.
