Some Zulu pics, pretty nice strap
Okay here is the deal, Graham hit me up about some Zulu's straps offerings so I order up a few of them from my vendor. I really was not interested in carrying Zulu's because personally I think Maratac makes a really nice version already so why try and compete with a great product already.
Well I was wrong. I got two of them in and I have say they are better. The webbing feels tighter and more robust. They are 300mm and my Maratac is maybe 270mm, which is way too short. The hardware is the same but the buckle holes on the version I have are finished better and it seems like the webbing around the holes are seared more evenly.
So here are some pics, the solid black strap on the bottom in the pics are the Maratac. I won't be carry these right away but I think I will down the road. I can special order them if you want some.

I will be keeping an eye on this.
Re: Some Zulu pics, pretty nice strap
I have several Zulu and they are great straps. If I didn't already have several I'd jump on the bandwagon.

Just curious what do you all like about zulu, is it the nylon thickness or the hardware. I used to like zulu simply for its thicker nylon. And now that there are better thicker sturdier alternatives with nato hardware i don't particularly need a zulu

Don't like them, personally. The tacticool dudes ruined them for me

Thicker material sturdier hardware and I just think it looks better with some of the larger dive watches. I like the simplicity of no keeper. Given that Terry can mod his NATO straps, i would prefer those to the bulky ZULU hardware.Panerai7 wrote:Just curious what do you all like about zulu, is it the nylon thickness or the hardware. Any 24mm versions? I wonder how that'd look on the CD2.

The simplest answer for me is adaptability.Panerai7 wrote:Just curious what do you all like about zulu, is it the nylon thickness or the hardware. I used to like zulu simply for its thicker nylon. I can't stand NATO straps because of the fixed hardware that I can't manipulate or move based on what I need from the strap.
The Zulus give me the ability to mount the watch anywhere along the strap, which allows me to center the buckle where it feels most comfortable OR is most accessible based upon the gear and equipment I am wearing.
I often will wear a compass or GPS attached to my ZULU strap. I have found it nearly impossible to mount either of those on a NATO as seamlessly or quickly as I can on the Zulu. At the end of the day, regardless of what I put on it, it's just a useful strap that I can put anywhere, e.g. I have secured the front license plate on my Landcruiser to the ARB bumper when my plastic mounting adapter broke.
Above all things I am consumed with multifunctional-minimalism and the Zulu appeals to me.

Zulu style is my favorite. Less material for my girly wrist. They look great.

My bad I meant Zulu as in those rings hardware that's typical to Zulu.
I agree one piece is NATO or what you call Zulu is better for me too.

Actually Mark you are probably correct. I hadn't thought about clearance. I have 2 Maratac NATO straps and they just fit.

I have some coming to try on the CD2, so I will let you know. They are not thicker than the Maratac but the webbing fells better.BSears wrote:Any 24mm versions? I wonder how that'd look on the CD2.
The one I have coming is Navy Blue, I think. So let me check it out and I will let you know if it is worthy. But I can order what anyone wants.JDC222 wrote:I need a Navy blue Zulu for the Baltic Terry!
I really have to say that I have never been a Zulu/Nato ever. But since this adventure has started I have started to enjoy them (if I ever feel like taking off Art's canvas strap, which is a great strap), I really feel my vendor has a better product than Maratac.
So if anyone wants any then let me know and I will get a special order coming in with some. I might start carrying some of the solid versions and maybe the solid with the pinstripe color. I also have a few two piece Zulu's coming in also.
Just let me know.
