A Bremont Vertex?
A Bremont Vertex?
Bremont just announced being a new MoD partner. They announced a 40mm automatic inspired by the Dirty Dozen WWII watches, in addition to a 42mm chronograph.

Nice pieces. And I like Bremont (hope to own one in the near future), but I have to say I'm somewhat shocked that they could become an (the?) MoD supplier given what I've seen of their price points.

Re: A Bremont Vertex?
They’re giving them away for pennies on the dollar so they can sell gi joe obsessed man children on their military cred.
As if there’s any military use for a luxury watch. At least there’s no mummy wrapping or old foreskin on these ones.

They are a couple of nice looking watches.
Hodinkee has the run down on the designs and prices (it's actually 3 different watches):

Yes. The Argonaut is my pick from the three.JBZ wrote:They are a couple of nice looking watches.

The Broadsword costs more than a Vertex, but it clutters the dial with that date window. It’s still only 100m water resistant, but the Vertex actually has legit ties to the original. It’s my pick, even if I didn’t already own one.
Here’s the Argonaut
and my sexy Vertex, just for kicks...

Vertex wins.
The lumed numbers are what sets it apart.
And I like the vertex chrono over the bremont.

Re: A Bremont Vertex?
At last, a Bremont I can actually warm to. I like the 3 hand and dual crown versions best. Straightforward, simple and ( for Bremont) not to pretentious.

Re: A Bremont Vertex?
If I read the Hodinkee article correctly, these aren't supplied to the British armed forces. The watches are meant for civilian use but Bremont has been given permission to use British army insignias on them.
Pricing isn't too bad for Bremonts. The three handers are mid-$3K and the chronograph is mid-$4K.

I like the Argonaut but don't care for HMAF on the dial--Not as pricey as I thought...

I can't believe I am saying this but I like the bremont better. I do not like how numbers on the vertex are getting circumcised

What’s with the cuts in the side of the case? “It’s not our three piece case but let’s make it look Iike it’s not just a piece of steel”
I like the vertex markers but I’m with T, uncut is better.

Re: A Bremont Vertex?
I think that the Bremont is more stylish but the Vertex is more functional. It might be the renderings, but the larger indices, the contrast between the main dial and the sub-dials and the divisions chosen for the seconds subdial makes the Vertex easier to read IMO. But in terms of pure looks, I prefer the Bremont.toxicavenger wrote: ↑Tue Feb 26, 2019 5:17 pmI can't believe I am saying this but I like the bremont better. Re: A Bremont Vertex?
In terms of chronographs in this style, I still think the CWC is the nicest of the bunch, but I think it's way overpriced at $3K...
Re: A Bremont Vertex?
Hondikee and their Bremont hatred is funny but I understand why those purists have such disdain for the brand. I still dearly miss my MBII and think of making a stupid move to get one back. I like all these new ones.
