Re: Boutique?
I've never seen anyone in there. Madison Ave rent must be insane. It's certainly a big money loser. But it's the same for all the boutiques, except for Rolex, which is always packed.marchone wrote:I just drove up Madison Ave and noticed the Bremont boutique closed with windows papered over.

I thought they were doing their own show in London?toxicavenger wrote:Closed for SIHH?

Re: Boutique?
Must be more great news for the brand.
Re: Boutique?
The average rent per square foot in that area is about $1700. Like has been said, I've never seen a single person in there other than the workers and I walk by there all the time.

Re: Boutique?
Just a bit of remodeling in advance of their new collections -- they'll be holding media/consumer events in NYC mid-March, or thereabouts.
That said, their first official post-Baselworld "show" will take place in merry old Londontown at the end of February.

Adam
PS - Sorry, h8trs.

Re: Boutique?
Love Wempe in NYC. Really great staff.
Re: Boutique?
I've always found Wempe to be the anti-Tourneau. Friendly, no judgement, and seemingly genuinely pleased to talk to you. Cellini wasn't bad either the one time I walked in there, but I could never afford anything in that store anyway.

Re: Boutique?
Agreed to Tourneau vs Wempe. Like night and day. Cellini has always been accessible over the years too.
only accurate watches are interesting
Re: Boutique?
Tourneau will be lucky to survive 2017. I'm amazed they have lasted this long.

The Mad Ave store is always empty. 57th St is always packed with tourists.

Re: Boutique?
Go to just about any Tourneau across the country and they are completely empty.marchone wrote:The Mad Ave store is always empty. 57th St is always packed with tourists.

MSRP + salespeople on commission = hostile retail environment.

Re: Boutique?
I have never had an issue at Tourneau--then again I never walk in expecting a 30% discount....Maybe I am biased considering I know the General Manager of one of the stores. Every time I walk in I get greeted and asked if I want a coffee or a drink. Every store has a-holes and arrogant managers. It's taken me time to build the rapport where I've received complimentary service, straps, etc. When I worked in Boston, I had a watch serviced by JLC and Tourneau had a salesperson deliver it to my office....At least from what I know, these stores make a killing from guys with deep pockets who order 3 Pateks over the phone and have them delivered to their house... Some of the Tourneau's are adding diamonds and jewelry which have a huge profit margin.
Anyway, my experience is certainly not everyone's............but for as many -hole managers/salespeople there are just as many a-hole customers....
Just my .02...

Re: Boutique?
I'm sure the big city stores are busy. The rest of them are ghost towns.matt.wu wrote:Toruneau in SF Westfield Mall is usually pretty busy.
