Wanting a MBII-WH w/orange barrel.

Post by sierra11b » Fri Nov 25, 2016 2:11 pm

Wanting to move my X33 Gen2 watch head now that my bracelet cannot be repaired (parting out on eBay). Time to move on to the next! Figure when I list it there may be a couple nato/strap guys here potentially interested. Also thought about moving my beloved all original '75 (and recently serviced) pogue as well

I starting thinking about getting the Mark XVIII white/silver dial as I love my black version so much. Nah, too redundant. Then I thought I wanted something a bit flashier and fun. Thought maybe 42mm Orange PO? Nah, don't need another black dial and my collection seems to comprise all aviation inspired pieces.... Then it hit me! The MBII-WH literally checks all the boxes!

Of course I haven't been able to get it out of my mind since. :stir:

Anyone have the white dial or seen both the white and black in the flesh? Not quite ready to purchase but want to get opinions.

Hey you can hit up Jeremey at http://www.osterjewelers.com/ and he might have something. He is very easy to trade with also.

Torn on dial color.

I want white but like both. Plus I could probably get the black version cheaper

Just tell him I sent you. He also has some pre-owned Nomo's, one even has a ToxicNato on it.

You know I will, terry.

Funny thing is I never thought I'd consider a bremont but all of the sudden I'm hooked on this one.

In the meantime if anyone has any input on how the watch wears and overall impressions I'd love to hear it.

Cool watch. Wears thick like all Bremonts.

But is it still comfortable on strap?

I read its 15mm vs the solo's 13.5mm (my other bremont interest). Tall for sure but if it wears well I'd be okay with it.

The MB2 is a nice watch, but it works best on leather straps imo. It's a bit too top heavy for nato. The solo works well on nato.

Whatever you do, don't buy new unless you intend to keep forever. Resale of Bremont watches was tough 2 yrs ago. I can only imagine how hard it is to flip one now. Topper routinely gave me 25% off Bremont when I was buying them a couple yrs ago. I wouldn't buy with any less then that discount.

Agree on straps. The bremont bracelet is nice but takes away from this model imho.

Resale on the white seems to be higher than the black.

I'm not against the black if I can get a smoking deal on one with orange barrel, but what draws me to the white is 1) I have a black dial xviii and 2) I really like how the full silhouette of the hour hand pops against the white dial.

I saw a Toppers LE with orange barrel on recon.

But you've probably found it already?

Yeah. The topper edition does little for me plus it's way overpriced.

An understated watch that does not get a lot of respect on the forums.

However, every time I wear it I am impressed by the design.

It wears very comfortably.

Shallow lug depth, so leather straps need to be thin at the lug ends.

Curved spring bars help.

You can see the marks from the case on the strap in the first picture.

NATO's worked fine for me.

Never had any problem with NATO on my supermarines fwiw. I loved how tall it was yet wrist friendly with a 50mm L2L and steep curve.

Pre-loved Black. Couldn't swing a new white... I think the black has a little more staying power even though I think the white is a bit cooler. Plus I've been an SF Giants fan my entire life.

It's a fun watch for sure and everything I had hoped to fill that subtle flashy void in my predominately aviation-inspired collection

I love the watch, but every time I see photos of that seconds hand I think someone has circled a dust speck on the dial.
