New Bremont LE.....
Re: New Bremont LE.....
They're going to alienate a LOT of people with this release.
Re: New Bremont LE.....
Yeah, like 99.9% of their current clientele. 3-5K for a standard watch is achievable. 25K will alienate all but the .01%.matt.wu wrote:They're going to alienate a LOT of people with this release.
Re: New Bremont LE.....
I just can't imagine anyone is going to take this seriously....Bremont is an enthusiast brand and an enthusiast is going to do the math and say "1st in-house movement from a comparative upstart .v FPJ"
Give me the Journe all day.

Wow. Interesting piece but price is asinine IMO. I agree with BD on the P51 being my fav to date.

Re: New Bremont LE.....
Well, Todd, it's gonna be a tough one to sell at those confirmed prices.
I wish them the best, truly, as I love the brand but this is really not gonna go over well with lots of folks.

Re: New Bremont LE.....
Precisely. They've made incredible headway in a short period of time as a brand, but exponentially increasing the price of this watch will turn a lot of people off. Case in point-this thread.matt.wu wrote:They're going to alienate a LOT of people with this release.
Re: New Bremont LE.....
I like Bremont and appreciate their designs and excellent customer service. This said, the English brothers need to be careful not to put the cart before the horse.
Re: New Bremont LE.....
All 3 of these watches ( FPJ, ALS, VC) are under $20K..

Check out the video--talk about back sides...
Point being, $27K for the Bremont is just crazy..

I have no doubt these will sell out.

Re: New Bremont LE.....
Outsourced movement falsely claimed to be in-house.
Irrelevant and unrelated nail-clipping of cloth on the rotor.
Joke pricing.
I'll pass, thanks.

Weren't they going to some form of "only ass kissing comments"? I seem to remember hearing that a while back.jimyritz wrote:Those people who comment on Hodinkee are an angry group..
Re: New Bremont LE.....
I'm not surprised that people are unhappy.
It's partially due to the fact that Bremont is actually doing two very different "lines" of watches. One is more philanthropic and unique and targeted toward getting money to aviation or British historical items. The other is just their standard retail offering.
I've been a proponent of them making this distinction more clear. I've told them they should problem have a "Bremont Historical Preservation" branch or something of the like, and make it very clear that this incredible high-priced LEs generate a lot of money and publicity for interesting causes. Then they can keep their "Bremont Watches" branch for standard retail offerings.
I think that'd go over well to still accomplish what they're trying to do without seeming like they're trying to fleece the average consumer (because these watches are obviously not made for the average consumer).

This is certainly pretty damning though.
Looking forward to Bremont's response:

I believe that decision was made in-house, thus....

Do you remember when everyone was in a tizzy that the movement in the IWC 3227 supposedly shared the baseplate of the VJ7750? I wonder if it's a similar situation.matt.wu wrote:This is certainly pretty damning though.

Re: New Bremont LE.....
It's true. There's so much duplicity in the watch industry right now. Almost everyone seems to be trying to cut corners while pumping prices through the roof. Not to make it a "Rolex versus" thread, but at least with them it's fairly clear where you stand.matt.wu wrote:And then of course you open everyone's favorite can of worms - what really constitutes in-house...
