Damn you Urban Gentry!

Post by TRUE LIBERTY » Sun Jul 15, 2018 3:05 pm

So been collecting on and off since the late 90s. I have other hobbies so my watch hobby will have a blast of interest for a time and than it takes a back stage for a few years to finally come back strong again. Anyways had never heard of Bremont until the Urban Gentry showed this video and it was love at first sight for Supermarine S301. I am into these hardened cases now but the design is simple but just something about it that is special with the three piece case, or what looks like three pieces anyways.

Did a little research and found a excuse to take the wife out for shopping at a part of town where a dealer seals Bremont and got to wear the S301. Very nice! I am about a grand short of cash from what I saved otherwise I might have taken one home. My wife thought it was horrible and really liked the Oris Aquis instead on me all the way. All well!

Your wife is right. That watch is horrible and for the money, the Oris is much better value.

The S301 is beautiful.

I've tried a few on at various GTG's and always liked them - go for it!

I really like the 301 and 501. I may fill that gap left when I sold my SM500

301 looks excellent. Perfect balance of vintage looks and modern touches. Not much on divers lately and this one appeals to me.

Now I have to disagree with two people. ;) Value is a personal thing. Anyways the hardened case makes it better value for me. I am tired of scratchy stainless or titanium.

Well if that’s the case you might consider perusing Sinn tegimented options

I do like that Bremont offers hardening with a brushed finish.

So do Damasko and Sinn.

Do they? I thought all of their hardened watches were bead blasted/satin. I don't think Damasko has a brushed watch in their lineup.

Satinized is brushed in Sinn-speak. There are several tegimented models available in that finish.

Can't stand UG but definitely dig the S300. Little more versatile strap-wise than the Aquis, and with more conservative proportions. Value is subjective, but the case construction ain't – Bremont's are head and shoulders above most I've worn.

Well the only one I liked was the U1 from Sinn and I found the bezel annoying and the clasp on the bracelet terrible.
