I think Seiya is shutting down.

Post by Henryj » Sat Sep 30, 2023 7:11 am

Two extended vacations, and now shut down “ We will be suspending the site temporarily to take a break for refreshing our minds and bodies. The site will be reinstated after we feel fully refreshed.”
If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

Never bought from him, but have browsed many many times. It seemed his assortment kept getting smaller and smaller.

I still miss Chino selling Seikos to the US. I loved that guy and he was my go to.

Damn, Seya helped me out with some JDM stuff in the past. I hope things work out for him.

I hope he's doing ok. I've been stalking the site to see Tunas come back, but his inventory just keeps dropping as if he's working his way out of the business.

That’s a shame. Seiya-san is awesome. Bought my first JDM MM300 from him. He took one of mine to Seiko Japan to resolve a dial issue outside of warranty, just because he sold it new. And I hadn’t even bought it from him!

Maybe it’s just what it says. A break to refresh themselves whether spiritually or physically. No need to read into it. Sometimes one needs a break. Been there.

Plus Japanese can be strange business wise - most dedicate themselves to providing service. I'm married to one, btw, and they can be weird. ;)

Seiya has had some "stress related" breaks in the past. He may need some time away from watches. And I think his primary career is IT related.

Yeah Seiya, Chino and Higuchi were my JDM go-tos!

I bought a Grand Seiko strap from Seiya this year and he included a great spring bar tool that I have used far more than the fancy pants Bergeon one I have.

I’d agree. We just talked about doing something like this message on our web page when we take the next RV trip rather than hauling around cases of soaps and candles plus shipping supplies and a label printer.

I agree, and I hope it’s just a brain break reset. Seiya has always been my go to.

as a business owner, taking breaks are invaluable. as a business owner, i have the liberty to take the breaks whenever they’re convenient and realistic. perhaps he’s doing the same.

Thank you! I’ve been a member here for a long time, but this thread is my first post. I recognize countless members here from WUS, including you, where I had been very active since 2008. Very glad to finally land here.
