Take The Seiko SPB383 GMT For A Test Run
I picked up a Seiko SPB383 GMT from Topper's shortly after its release.
The only downsides for me are the loose bezel action and the lume seems weak in comparison to other Seiko's
Other than that, I find it a solid watch; good size and comfortable on the wrist.
Several members have contacted me to ask questions about the watch that pretty much come down to personal preference.
I decided to send the watch their way to check out in person.
It will cost about $35 to send the watch along to the next person.
That is based on using USPS for priority, insured shipping; most of the cost is for the insurance.
If you use a shipping service, the cost should be a good deal less.
Once you get the watch you are welcome to wear it around a bit and change straps if you'd like.
It will arrive on Art's strap shown in the above picture.
The watch is currently heading to Terry who will then send it to Joe.
If you are interested in being included in this, send me a pm.
This offer is restricted to members in good standing (whatever that means).

Definitely interested.

Have you thought about getting an account with WWT for shipping and insurance? The post office WILL NOT pay for a lost or damaged watch and Marks prices are really reasonable. You could easily ship with him and get full insurance coverage. FWIW.

Thanks for the suggestion, Mike.
I've been lax in finding a service since CGI; I will definitely reach out.
Do you happen to have a contact address for Mark?
Also, do you have a specific link to show USPS will pay for insured watches?
I did a brief search prior to initiating this and it seemed watches would be covered.

I would prefer if anyone else is interested, please send a pm - easier for me to keep track of things.
This makes six on the waiting list.

FWIW, USPS insurance paid me for a SKX009 that was lost in transit, but that was about 8 years ago.mattcantwin wrote:Thanks for the suggestion, Mike.

I spoke to Joe about what happened with the knife pass-around; I'm fine moving ahead with this.

More research on my part for USPS insurance and I’m still unclear - but top level USPS says their insurance does cover watches but I’ve also heard horror stories too. If it’s over $750 in value I have been using WWT. They ship through FedEx and explicitly insure watches and valuables. Mark is VERY responsive.mattcantwin wrote:Thanks for the suggestion, Mike.

I found some very small text down inside documentation of things not covered by USPS on their site when I searched for jewelry, it said: Coins; platinum, gold, or silver (manufactured or not); precious stones; jewels; and other valuable articles.
I’m no expert so please value this advice appropriately.

We’ve got a DWC deal with them. I’ve been lazy to post the info. I’ll do it tomorrow!

I was there when it happened. The thing just broke. It was weird. He wasn’t being abusive or anything. I think the issue was more about how the aftermath was handled than the damage to the knife.BBK357 wrote:Oh I forgot to check back- yeah I think Craniotes broke it or something. There are three members left before the Seiko returns to me.
Last call in case anyone missed this the first time around.
Please send me a pm if interested.
