Favorite Vintage Seiko Diver
Some of the recent 6105 posts got me thinking about my collection. The 6105 is like some people and the Pelagos for me. It just keeps coming back to me. But the 6306 I picked up is another clear favorite of mine. Shot of some of my favorites below.. would love to see some others favorites, theblast thing I need is any enabling, but why not....

Re: Favorite Vintage Seiko Diver
I never owned one but have had (and will have again!) several 6309-7040’s
This is the last one I sold and it was dated the month/year I joined the Navy - what an IDIOT I am for selling...
It had been re-lumed and sapphire installed...
Love everything about it including the quirky hands and 22mm lugs.

Of the vintage watches I've owned, the 6306 and 6159 are definitely two of my favorite watches.

Re: Favorite Vintage Seiko Diver
I think the old school (70’s-90’s) Seiko divers are sentimental to many of us, as they were one of our gateway drug watches. I wasn’t able to reach to Seiko diver level, but I aspired to own one.
All of those are cool. I think the modern “Willard” model is the closest to the old school Seiko divers in terms of price-value-quality.

Re: Favorite Vintage Seiko Diver
The 6309 has be but my favorite Seiko style. The NAFT is my daily wear for this reason. I do not own a 6309 but I have thought of getting one, but I would keep it nice. My daily watches have a rough life and the NAFT has shown itself to be up to the task. It does take a hint of tuning if it takes a hard whack that moves the regulator (has happened twice) but still I end up grabbing it instead of my G-Shock almost every single time.
These styles are just classic Seiko and the really modern styles that don’t borrow these styling cuts just feel overdone. I think at a certain point it is just trying too hard to make up a completely new watch. Rolex has stuck to their original designs with only mild tweaks styling wise and its obviously paid off and then some for them.

Re: Favorite Vintage Seiko Diver
Would love to find a nice birth year 6309.
They're still obtanium but you've gotta be quick. I'm not as quick as most. Maybe I should post a WTB?
'81 was a shitty year for a birth watch as it was during the quartz revolution. Outside of the 6309 every other option is a $10K+ Rolex.

How about a mechanical or spring drive tuna? Cheaper than a Rolex. Or go with quartz tuna or an Arnie. Or Omega.sierra11b wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 3:56 pmWould love to find a nice birth year 6309.

Re: Favorite Vintage Seiko Diver
I had a 6309 and I loved it.
But I can’t remember what happened to it.
I’ve always wanted a 6105 but thought they were too big for me.
There’s the 62MAS too and the Seiko reissues of these that I would love to have but they’re too expensive IMO.
So I have to settle for this SPB151 which I am very happy with.

I have a small wrist and love the 6105. I think the hardest part with the 6105 is just getting a strap that works for my wrist and with the 19mm lug width. But I actually really like the way it wears.Terpits wrote:I had a 6309 and I loved it.

I’ve checked all those off. I’ve owned 12 Rolex, 3 SD GS, 3 mechanical GS, 5 tunas, 2 Arnie, still have my speedy I’ll never sell.HapaHapa wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 5:28 pmHow about a mechanical or spring drive tuna? Birth year or bust. There’s an ‘81 6309 out there somewhere.

It’s too hard for me to pick just one.

This picture is awesome, and also painful for me as I believe that might be my old 62MAS in there.gonzomantis wrote:It’s too hard for me to pick just one.
