Ballpark price for Seiko 6105-8009

Post by Bill39 » Sat Aug 15, 2020 12:51 pm

Would someone give me a ballpark price for a Seiko 6105-8009 purchased in 1970. I wore it almost daily from 1970-2011. The crystal had to be replaced in about 2007. Still keeps good time.

Prices on these have shot up astronomically.
You used to be able to find a nice one in great shape for $900. Now a POS that doesn’t run is worth $900 and the same nice one that runs well is $2000.
Yours looks good but prob needs a service.
Maybe $1500?

Keep it. You’ll regret selling it.

Looks good.

Why did you stop wearing in 2011?

I stopped wearing it because I got a new watch from work, a Tissot and it became my everyday watch. I would still occasionally wear the Seiko though.

Then I started reading that these things can be worth $$$. For Christmas several years ago my wife bought me a SKX-173 and it is now my everyday watch.

Depending on what the 6105-8009 is worth, I’ll probably sell it.

one thing is to not go off of ebay prices. they are super inflated hoping for someone to bite.

I'd be interested in potentially buying when you put this up for sale.

Just some frank input. Sell the watch here. You will get a fair price from someone who will want to keep the watch. They won’t screw you over at the end of the PayPal return period, and won’t whittle you down on price with intent to resell to highest bidder.

You could get luck and get more, or not. It’s a crap shoot. Also, eBay policies have become very buyer oriented, so selling a vintage mechanical watch could result in a return and refund if the buyer gets cold feet or decides doesn’t want tp pay for maintenance. The watch forum with initial W U S will eventually result in a sale, but not after a dozen (or scores) of silly questions and emails from people with no intent to buy or can’t afford to buy.

All, wow I had no idea. Anywhere from $500 and up. I think l’ll look around on other sites before making a decision.

It still keeps good time just has a scratched up bezel.

It’s not a scratched bezel. It’s patina and we love that shit.

If I were in the market I’d give you a fair price. Gotta consider, too, that it will need a service.

Yep it def needs a service. That patina is on the dial because it has had a little moisture in it before. Need to make sure the movement is good and has seals that work.
