Tool watches that Seiko could have built?

Post by CarloDWC » Sat Dec 07, 2019 8:56 am

For quite a white I wanted to do two specific projects. One being a military style tool watch and the other a Tuna with a special look. I was lucky to find a watch from a member of this forum that I could use for both these projects.

One is an Seiko SRP Save The Ocean which had a Top hat sapphire crystal on it, I always considered those a bit silly because they are so tall... but I ended up with a thicker bezel at one point and the final version of my idea started to become more real. I got the watch and installed a military dial, I had a set of original MKII hands and put all together. It now actually looks great to me.

The other was simply a matter of using the removed dial from the STO which I believe is one of the best looking dials Seiko has ever produced, pop it into a SRP637 (Baby Tuna) and then finish with some original Sumo hands.

Here are some pics. I know they are not for everybody but I really like the results.

Carlo eye for the watch guy!

I like both too. Nice work!

Is the dial and handset both MKII?

I kinda want dibs on the military turtle (Murtle?).

The Murtle is awesome. Happy I could help provide some of the bones of these projects.

Thank you all for the kind words. I agree that the Military project is a bit more special then the other. To answer the question on the dial, it is not MKII it is from Dagaz. The MKIi dial only has lume on the markers, a part not being available, this one has lume on the numbers too which makes it better for my use.

Thank you Rahul for helping me make these possible.

I have a couple of straps to use and even a bracelet, I worn it a couple of times on a Nato I had, will try to figure out one that looks and works best and maybe be "part of the watch"

Here is a pic of the other side when it still had the black crown which I replaced for a silver one.

Thank you my friend. I did one more touch to it, I got a watch that had a crown with the S on it and swapped it...

Here are a couple of pics.
