Broken click spring

Post by Torrid » Sun Sep 01, 2019 2:49 pm

Just after I listed my NAFT for sale I noticed the bezel felt stiff compared to how it used to operate. After I decided to keep it I popped the bezel and the click spring was broken in half at the thinnest part about halfway between the two clicks. A new spring ordered ran me $17, but for some that are having stiff bezel issues this may be worth looking into. After a search it seems like a few others have found broken click springs on their NAFTs.

The bezel on my seiko stargate is difficult to turn. I've washed/turned it with dish soap but no improvement. Maybe this is my issue.

Bezel spring replacement. The one that came out broke in two spots.

Nice. Will this fix a bezel misalignment?

I doubt it unless the click spring jumped completely out of spot when it broke.

But once the bezel is off, you could remove the bezel insert, then replace the bezel (without the insert), then replace the insert properly aligned.

You’d probably have to purchase a replacement insert if the original was glued in. They can be easily bent when removed (or maybe I’m just a klutz). Maybe dropping the bezel (with the old insert still in, but removed from the watch) into some hot water would loosen the factory glue enough to allow you to remove the insert without damaging it.
