I just got mine, and it's really well done, much nicer in person than any picture I'll manage to post. It feels gigantic to me right now, but that's because I've been rotating two 39mm watches. Will have to see if I get used to it. If I hadn't bought it directly from an AD I'd suspect it was not a real Seiko, because everything lines up perfectly. The bezel action is better than any Seiko I've had before, including higher end LEs. The beveled crystal is sweet, they got that just right, if I remember right it's just like my old 6105. I think Seiko really got this one right. The only thing missing for me is a date window surround, but I guess they have to hold something back from the much more expensive LE.

Looks great on the strap

I would love to see this on the OG MM300 strap

Seiko: SBDB001, SBDX001, SRP777

Sinn: EZM9, T1, T1B, 836 & 857S

Great idea! :o

Like many here I've had multiple but as part of a set that kept getting away!

Think I'll buy another and try to fulfill your wishes unless someone beats me to the punch.

Review time:

Bracelet is substantial. Heft of it reminds me of the SBBN015s. On the wrist it wears like a cross between an SBGA029 and NAFT. It certainly has some heft overall and with one link removed it's 178grams on MM300 clasp. It's comfortable.

It's running at +5sec a day which is exactly what my 6R35 SBP117 Alpinist is running. Position matters on the dresser at bedtime... Face up it gains and crown down it loses.

I put it on a MM300 clasp but showed the OEM clasp in the last picture. As you can see it looks more refined than the old stamped MM300 clasp, which shows what this watch is all about. Is it worth $1300? Not sure. But at <$1000 it's a no-brainer.

Bezel action is impressive. Never felt a Seiko with a bezel action like this... It's like MM300 if it were rubbing against a rubber o-ring... Maybe more like the Sd4K with a little more resistance.

If you get the watch in direct light the indices have a very faint cream hue to them. Can't remember if that was the case with the cushion-lumed indices of the NAFt before I had it force-patina

Overall happy! I even ordered another Olongapo Jaffy Jurado. :fro:
This looks like a really good one. Enjoy it. I'm out of the Seiko game for at least a bit, but these really have me tempted.

Nice. I’m pretty much sold on these. I’ll wait for used prices but I will get one. I like everything about it. Except for the X but I’m going to have to live with it at this point.

One thing Seiko can do well is bezel action. Some of the best bezels I’ve spun are Seiko.

Any clue what the weight is head only?
The only thing that I still would like it a point of view from someone who has or has had an original 6105. If like to know their thoughts.

This own and Jeff’s 6105 reissue are both calling my name.

I do like this tuna. But looking at the 015 I’m not seeing much of an improvement besides black date window. I’d rather have the silver “Marinemaster” instead of the X any day.

It has classic looking hands but with no lines. I may like those better. But other then that it’s close to the same model as the 015.

The 151 clasp comes with diver extension and four micro adjust holes.

I just prefer mm300 ratcheting clasp.

The clasp is adjustable, has 4 micro adjustments.

I don't have a scale, but it's not light, even on a tropic. I had a 6105, and I don't remember it being heavy. It's been a while, but this is definitely heavier.

The hardened coating and sapphire adds a little but I too bought my SBBN015 7-8 years ago from one of the Japanese sellers for $1200 but that was on a super nice bracelet. $1500 on rubber for this definitely seems steep. I sold mine and bought it back like 4-5 years later. Definitely my favorite Seiko and I’m never letting it go again.

Yeah $1500ish for a standard Tuna seems to be about double what I would pay.

I bought one.

I’ll post pics of it when it arrives. I also got some 20mm fat spring bars from Terry.

I’ll try to get a pic before someone on WUS does and will weigh the watch head alone at that time. The head is heavy... no question.

Thanks guys.
Yep the mm300 clasp is hard to beat.

Too bad about the new 6105 weight. One of the best thinks about the original was the big but thin case that was very light on the wrist.

That still doesn’t change my mind. I still need to try it.

Considering I sold both my 015 and 017 for less than half of that value, that’s a definite yes.

Well, count me in on the SPB153/151 craze. If you ever wanted a slightly smaller and "nicer" Turtle, you need this. Wound and set yesterday at around 8pm, left it dial up on the dresser at 11pm. This morning it was 7+ sec.

OEM rubber is super nice (as always, a little to long for me). Also wears great on a UTE ShizNit:

Really like the crystal (is there a crystal like this one for the NAFT?!?). I also think the bezel design is spot on, the knurling doesn't go all the way down to meet the case, its similar to a PO bezel in that is slims down when it reaches the case (check first pic below). Add that to the "dime" knurling and you have a design that looks better than the Turtle or SKX.

Measurements:

SPB153: Bezel diameter 40mm, lug to lug 46mm, case (9 to 3) 42.5mm

SRP777: Bezel diameter 42.5mm, lug to lug 47mm, case (9 to 3) 44.5mm

Planet Ocean 2500 "42mm": Bezel diameter 40mm, lug to lug 47.5mm, case (9 to 3) 41mm (8 to 2 is 42mm).

Congrats, Joe. Looks fantastic!

Wore mine on the rubber all wknd, and it's ridiculously comfortable. This new case rivals the 6306/9 for ease of wear. The proportions are great, and the side angle view of the beveled crystal and coin-edge bezel show how nicely this is finished. Best $$ I could spend this Summer!

Agree Tom, the strap is really comfortable and it looks super nice with the watch. The fact that the case has 20mm lugs help with the lug, plus is better than having the 19mm lugs from the 6105. It's been about 5 years since my last 6306/9, but agree, as the 6306/9 wears smaller than the new Turtles. Also, I didn't know this one came with a sapphire crystal. That was a nice surprise.

I think this is a great weekend / sports watch. I will enjoying adding nicks and scratches to this one.

Unfortunately I don't have an SXK to compare it, but from memory, it wears similar to an SKX, which is a good thing. I think you would like this one a lot.

Glad to be of help, the smaller bezel (and hence, dial) gives it a great look against the Turtle.

Here's mine with my skx. Very similar in size but the new one feels bigger to me on the wrist. Maybe because the 151s case is wider from top to bottom rather than tapering like the skx? Having 20mm lug width vs 22mm may make the case visually larger also. Don't get me wrong, it feels fine on the wrist, but bigger than an skx.

Thanks Jeff! Does it feel as comfortable on the wrist than the SKX? Is it me or does the SKX dial / bezel are larger than the SRP151?

Man, I have a strap like yours, think I'm going to try that on my 153, looks great.

I think the SKX is slightly more comfortable on the wrist, but now I'm thinking it's because the strap (I have it on a NAFT strap) is slightly more comfortable than the Uncle Seiko tropic. But both are comfortable enough. Taking these wrist shots just now makes me realize the two really are similar size wise. Using a ruler and a bad set of eyes, the dial on the SKX is 31mm vs 30 for the SPB. Both bezels seem to be 40mm.

Question: Is the OEM strap super long, as in not wearable with a sub 7" wrist, or just usual Seiko long? And does it collect lint? I was considering getting an Uncle Seiko tire track strap, but I'm now thinking I may try to see if I can find an OEM, because it looks nice and thick which may work better for the thick case.

This should work really well on an US waffle strap, which is an appropriate homage to the original 6105s.

Thanks for all the pics. So, they're a bit smaller than the 6105-8110?
