That blue MM300 is horrible looking. Looks like a mod watch.

I love my Ares D1, but it’s also my first watch with a fully lumed bezel and when I wake up in the middle of the night and check it, it takes a second or two longer for me to tell the time when compared to a watch with a simple single lume pip .
I tend to agree. I think just having the bezel numbers lumed and leave the minute ticks white. It’s really bright and I love that.

I’m a blue watch fan, but the more I see of these new MM300’s, the more I realize the SBDX001 was the pinnacle of the design. So glad I still have mine.

The MM200 is a better continuation of the Marinemaster than the new MM300s, IMO.

I'd agree since I like the older 001/017 models better. However, movement wise the 6r15 is the weak link imo.

True. Though I’ve never had a problem with the 6r15, I would preferred they stuck an 8L35 in the SPB line.

Yes, an 8L35 would make that watch perfect. Heck, charge $1995 for it and it would still be a hit.

Yeah I’ve never been thrilled with the 6R15. 4R36 has been solid for me though. The SRP777 ran really fast when I got it but adjusted it and it’s very accurate since and stayed consistent. While I’ve only had the SRPC44 for a few days it’s stayed dead on since hitting a full wind. No complaints there. My only 6R15 I have now runs consistently 3 seconds slow but it’s one of only three I’ve had that were consistent. It’s not off by enough to warrant opening the case.

one good thing about the 6r15 is a replacement movement is really cheap.

I think my Paradive has a 6r15 and it’s running +3.5 spd, which is pretty impressive for what is.

Of course, it’s been “touched by Yao” so there’s that....

BTW - “touched by Yao” is different than “touched by Ben”

So it was a NE15 then, and I've been told, for whatever reason, they perform better, and are more consistent, than the branded 6r15 even though they are supposedly the same.

Every 6r15 I've owned ran slow, and the few that were on the + side were very inconsistent.

Same here. My Tsunami once it settled in at -8 while not great stayed consistent.

No, I think "touched by Yao" and "touched by Ben" are roughly equivalent. In both cases the original owner probably got screwed....

I have a couple 6r-15's in the collection (old Shogun, new SPB053) and in both cases they run fairly accurately. I'm not one to check seconds fast or slow per day, but I'll wear a watch for a week or two at a clip and I'll notice if I'm a minute off over that period. Neither watch has me making adjustments.

I do appreciate the SPRON mainspring in the 6r with its anti-magnetic properties. I also appreciate Terry's point about the low cost of 6r-15 replacements. I'd bet it is hardly worth investing the time (and cost of labor) to fix a 6r-15. Cheaper to simply swap it out completely.

I'm going to have to look at that Sumo Chrono when more photos become available. The Sumo never really interested me in the past, but the chrono version has my attention.

The only parts last I checked that are available in the US for the 6r15 is the mainspring. So it is a better option to pluck and chuck the old movement for a new one. Nothing is available for the 8l35.

The Sumo is a pretty watch, but to wide for my wrist. The chrono I bet will be even bigger.

Thinking you guys may have checked out Seiko's newest Prospex Solar
Divers, and new Monsters. But just in case...

Looks like the Solar Divers will have 46.7mm stainless, or PVD coated
stainless steel cases with a hardened black plastic outer casing, or shroud.
Along with 200m WR, a domed crystal, unidirectional rotating bezel, matte
black dials with Old Radium style LumiBrite coated hands, and markers,
rubber diver's strap, and Seiko solar Cal. V157 movement.

Next the Monsters will have 42.4mm stainless steel, or black PVD coated
stainless steel cases, 200m WR, Hardlex crystals, gloss black bezels, matte
black, or gradient blue dials with LumiBrute hands, and markers, stainless
steel, or black coated stainless steel bracelet, or black rubber strap, and
4R36 automatic.
