Anyone considering the new Arnie SNJ025?
Anyone considering the new Arnie SNJ025?
I keep coming back to this one despite the "erect crowns" situation. Doesn't help that I nicknamed my son Dutch and he actually answers to it as well. Silver and black is definitely where it's at. It's big but having owned 1000m tunas without problems I'm sure it would wear fine on most.
I'm still naive to Solar technology and need to research the long term ownership of one, or lack thereof? I guess with everything Seiko it depends on how long they'd be willing to service the model? I'd certainly wait until the price dropped on this one but would still want a watch that could last decades if possible, even though it would likely be flipped long before.
There's been speculation on price but the article says $500 and the recent Seiko solar tuna was debuted at around that price with some great deals to be had.
Fratello did a good write-up
"Another key characteristic of the Seiko SNJ025 Solar Arnie is its size. It grows to 47.8mm from an original 45mm and I’d guess that lug to lug is somewhere around 50mm. The thickness of the shrouded diver was also well over the original’s scant 11.3mm. But – and you’ll have to believe me on this, this thing wears beautifully."

I think I’d wear one of those.
Re: Anyone considering the new Arnie SNJ025?
I'm interested. I like the bronze bezel version actually.
Hopefully street price will be good on these.

Sorry, it’s a “Nope” for me. Too many crowns and I find them kind of obnoxious.

I did not like the original since it felt super cheap an unimpressive. Especially for what people were selling it for. I do like the current solar Tuna's and I think this is the same case. So I will probably try one out.

Not I. It does nothing for me.

Do the crowns have a function?

Yeah, I think I’ll be in line to pick one of these up. I’ve been thinking about those solar digital tunas and this kinda bridges the digital / analog divide.

If those crowns are just for looks that’s incredibly dumb.

The article is going off Seiko spec sheets. Seiko called the SNE498 50mm L2L when released also.

Re: Anyone considering the new Arnie SNJ025?
I think the article is saying that the models shown at Basel were non-working - not the extra crown/pushers.
Looks to me like those are pushers made to look like crowns. Operation would keep with the original.

Re: Anyone considering the new Arnie SNJ025?
Right.
The more you look at them they’re actually coin edge pusher protectors to match the crown. Looks cool

Good to know. I’m okay with it and those that’ve handled it seem fine. We’ve seen this 102,378 times with Seiko and it’s renditions... I’m in once there’s a good price to be had on the black/silver
