Are there any online retailers that are taking pre-orders, and/or would ship to the US?

Not my cup of tea but I like both of the tuna. GMT is nice.

MSRP appears to be about $6000 USD. With 25% discount, I think I’d be ok with a titanium MM300 that gives me Spring Drive, sapphire crystal, and 22mm lug width. It should wear very well.

That’s the one to see, Hop. Looks thick, though. Wonder how it will wear.

15.7 thick, but the review said it has a low center of gravity and that must help.

Still about the same as a SD43 or PO.

Please tell me that crown was pulled out. It can’t possibly protrude that far when screwed in, right?

Same as the U1 Professional in thickness.
However, the SD300 Should be considerably lighter being made from titanium. I’m guessing Grade 5 as well. Since it can take high polish.

I’ll be gunning for a black version later/next year when prices have settled downImage

I’m sure the SD-M300 wears well. Love wearing the 43.5PO on bracelet. As we all know sometimes Ti can actually throw off the balance vs.Ti and make it too light and flimsy at the head point but that usually only happens with a tall Ti head with narrow lugs. But I doubt this will be the case with 22mm lugs and seiko specifically stating the center of gravity design.

I’d buy with confidence unworn for this one. Looks like a winner.

I always thought there should be a different measurement in steel to wrist real estate, metal, and lug width... Some sort of equation for caseback dimensions and then bonus factors for 1) metal, and 2) lug width. Metal and lug width could mean nothing or everything as a variable depending on case back dimension. For example, the sbga029, for me anyway, wore great and I thought the Ti version was an unnecessary expense and cheapened the watch overall.

A resident mathematician should get on and make sense of that wearability criterion. ;)

No, it’s shitty like that.
That and the idiotic thickness would be real deal breakers even if I had the wrist size to rock it.

Seiko needs to understand that they can get away with mistakes like these at $1000, but not at $6000
It would be perfect if it wasn’t for those two things.

Stolen info from TRF "Shopping In Japan is apparently getting three of the RX-78-2s, two are accounted for, and they are priced at a whopping, $7286, already more than the MSRP. It's a pre-order right now, have to pay full price up front, not only a deposit, with the listed release date of, 8/9/2019."

They should have called it Seiko Godam

Photos from an article I read on the Watchville app (I don’t recall the source).

It very much seems to be the titanium MM300 with 22mm lugs that I’ve always wanted, but the price and the crown really step all over the excitement. Put the 8L35 in it and shave the crown, sell it for $3500 MSRP and $2500 street price, then it’s perfect.

^^^I have to say I really like that one. Maybe they upsized the crown to stop complaints of the smaller MM crown? Who knows.

So you guys are ok with this?
I can’t take this kind of thickness from a $500 watch, much less from a $6000 piece.

It’s completely ridiculous.
I’m ok with it on a dive watch. I believe it’s 15.7 so about the same as a PO. It’s also titanium.

The thickness looks just fine. I have plenty of watches that thick. That goofy crown is the deal breaker.

I love Ti watches and have two, but the styling on this one just doesn’t work for me - not even in the $100’s of dollars.
