Seiko Mod question: Day/Date wheels

Post by sierra11b » Mon Feb 18, 2019 10:07 am

I've had a couple NAFTs modded over the years and on one I opted for white/white and the other I asked duarte change to black/black. Unfortunately, both are on the wrists of friends now so I can't really inspect them closely.

Sorta torn on what to do with the SRP777 black dial and white/white day/date? Keep white/white which is as close to the 6309, or maybe even try black day/white date?

Has anyone tried the black day/white date combo or have a picture of it? I wonder if it would balance the dial a bit more or just look out of place?

I've always wondered how that combo would look. Based on that photo, I still can't decide if I like it.

Right.

I think it looks good and better balanced but might be one of those mods that needs to really sink-in before you fall in love.

I think it's because we've been so programmed to seeing the white/white from Seiko for decades.

I like that the white date still acts as a marker in this case thereby balancing the dial. But torn based on the Seiko programming

This. The 3:00 side of the dial looks empty with the black day/date. The half and half looks retarded.

That's cool. The white date balances with the 9 o'clock index, while the black day blends in with the dial.
