I just got in the SBDC063 today. I saw this in person at Wind Up and also at the Seiko boutique and it is a impressive watch. The bezel turns as good as all the MM's I have owned in the past. The hands in person looks great. Not perfect though, if they were polished like the applied hour markers then I think it would have looked better. But they look like they have a blasted finish. Movement winds smoothly, and seems to be running great.

Some people call this the Baby MM. I really think this watch stands on its own. Yes the case is like the MM but it wears lower on the wrist for sure. And that is the only resemblance to the MM. If there was a more universal version of the MM when it comes to every day wear it is this watch.

This watch actually wear better on the wrist than the Seiko SKX007. Weird huh? Because specs wise it doesn't' seem like it would. At 44mm wide vs the SKX 42mm it totally doesn't seem possible. Due to the angled sides though the actually real-east the watch takes up is seems smaller, much like the MM. EDIT: The SBDC is 13.25mm high, the SKX is 13.6mm, seems taller right? Not really. I think the reason why is the longer lug to lug of the SBDC is 49mm, which makes the watch spread out more evenly on the wrist. The SKX tends to have a short/tall stance and feel higher up.

I am really happy with this watch. I might change the hands out but I am not sure yet. :tap: I know a few guys are using the MM hands and it looks great. I just think they need to be a little longer.

Oh and thanks to Chris for being an enabler and hooking me up with the seller of this watch. :salute:

I tried one on last week and the fit is great. You're right, it wears better than the skx007.

I actually like the hands. It might ruin the look if you change them.

Wow the 63 is really really nice. Great size, retro look.

I’m not a big fan of arrow hands except on the planet ocean, but I’m wearing an MM300 right now and I don’t think those hands would look good either?

How about the hands of the SBDC027 Sumo special edition? They aren’t as cool as MM300 hands, but they are nice polished batons. I think they’d look fantastic.

If Rob can order I’d do those. OEM only.

Special Edition parts from Japan have become almost impossible to get. Rob quit answering emails the last year or so it seemed for me. So I quit dealing with him.

If I didn't already have a MM I'd have bought one of these, but the black bezel w/bracelet version.

I know what you mean about the hands though. I have the 053 with the same hands and in certain light they do look polished like the indices even though they aren't.

Thanks for this, Terry. Really nice to see it compared to a watch everyone owns, useful info.

Seiko nailed it. Received mine Saturday and haven't taken it off. Always thought the MM300 was 95% perfect, aside from the thickness. This one totally fixes that.

I am thinking about trading the hands out the SRP407

Wow that looks so good T. It is def on my list for next year.

BTW- I think Duarte has some MM300 hands.
I bought some for a future shogun. I didn’t buy from him because I found them a bit cheaper from a private dude on SCWF.

I like too. It might look good with MM300 hands, but I just don’t need another watch.
