New Seiko model

Post by 59yukon01 » Mon Nov 05, 2018 9:57 am

Seiko SD-1C and looks the be 5-6 months before release.

Really love the look of this one, but the size is questionable for me.

I don’t particularly care for the bezel but the hands are nice.

I’m not sure about the “reservoir tip” markers.

Not picking on this model specifically, but just how many 200m dive watches does Seiko need to produce?

I kinda like it. At 45mm and 13 thick... but the real prob is L2L being 51. Will not be a comfy watch.

They would work better with a cameltoe at 12

Every possible variation except the one I want. What would be so hard about an SKX007 size with a 6R15? I mean, really.

Yeah, I know. 20 years from now, they’ll mine the SKX as a nostalgic reissue, bump it up a few mm, change the hands, and the new generation of Seiko fans will eat it up.

^^^Personally I think if Seiko upgraded the SKX's with at least a 4r36, added applied indices, drilled lugs, and even a better bracelet/rubber strap, they probably couldn't keep them in stock.

I would like to see that. I would have it in addition to the NAFT. Originally before the deal came up on the modded one I have now I was prepared to grab an SKX from Island Watch since they can be had with sapphire already installed with an upgraded bracelet. I’m too impatient to pick up a watch, send it off, and have mods done.

Aside from likely not having sapphire, with all of those upgrades if it were to happen it would be perfect, especially in size.

Not totally new, there was a similar one with a "extra growth" on the bezel... dial and hands I think were exactly the same.

SRP585, I think they called it Mohawk or something like that:

It seems that they removed that unsightly protuberance on the bezel and now it looks pretty nice...

No Prospex logo on the new version?

Took off the X and for rid of the stupid pip... I’d say it’s an improvement.

For some reason, and I’m afraid to say it to jinx myself... Seiko hasn’t f’d with the tuna Dial and slapped an X on it.

I think that some time they get carried away and put certain logos all over their models, the X is one example which they plastered on may diver and non diver watches, but they did that with the Seiko 5 logo too on many otherwise nice watches.

Personally I wish they would restrain themselves on doing that... maybe putting that on the case back or somewhere out of sight...

I keep hearing that they discontinued it and what's working it's way through the channels is just what remains.

I think for the price there is little wrong with the 007/009

Agreed.....I think I paid around $135 for each of the two I have, which are the 173/175 versions. There's just not a better watch for the price imo.

It might not have a screw down crown?
