Another 6309 Rescue
My 6309-7040 ca. 1980
It finally arrived on my doorstep Saturday...Getting my hands on this example was exciting to say the least.
The movement is running but, hasn’t been tested for accuracy. Crown feels good and screws down properly. The Dial, Hands and Lume all look to be in good original shape. Crystal has a couple minor scratches along with the case/back to be expected. Rotation of Bezel feels a little rough IMO.
I’m sending this one off to a trusted colleague, Tom (SeikoPyscho) so he can take out his golden screwdriver and get it Tip Top. Additionally, will have him add one of the Uncle Seiko straps he currently has available for purchase.

Nice! The dial and hands appear to be exceptionally clean, especially compared to the moldy look some get. Congrats!

Looks like this one sat in a drawer for 30 years. Nice!

Thank you! The Lume is superb on this example. Water ingress usually creates “Lume rot” you refer to.gonzomantis wrote:Nice! The dial and hands appear to be exceptionally clean, especially compared to the moldy look some get. Congrats!
It sure does. Every now and then the universe throws me a bone. Appreciate it!dnslater wrote:Looks like this one sat in a drawer for 30 years. Nice!

It looks great!
Is Tom still doing work? I thought he told me he was only doing his stuff.

Tom just hit me up this evening and it’s back on it’s way home to me. Cleaned. Regulated. New Gaskets and Crystal.
I’m pumped.
