After going to his site for the first time in a while i realize how shitty photobucket is!
Either way that shroud is for the older model SBDN021, 023, 025, 026, 028, 029. I have an email out to him asking if it would fit though.

It looks fine. It looks more like a beadblasted finish. So not polished or brushed. You can't really tell it is plastic without touching it.para13cord wrote: ↑Tue Jul 24, 2018 9:41 amI like solar movements more and more. I want one of these. I would probably get the aftermarket dlc shroud. Does the plastic one look ok compared to a normal tuna?

Re: Seiko SNE498 arrived
I'm not certain I would mod mine (if I bought one) to be honest. Plastic has some advantages as a shroud material. It is light weight. The color likely goes all the way through the material so scratches will blend in. It won't dent if banged against something and it probably has enough flexibility to absorb a pretty good knock.
I think the metal shroud makes sense on the classic Tuna, but this one I'm thinking I'd leave as is for now.
I also want you all to notice how good I'm being at saving my pennies for that Tudor GMT or BB58. Under normal circumstances this watch, taking advantage of Terry's discount code, would already be on its way to my door.

Re: Seiko SNE498 arrived
Harold just told me the shroud is $105. And a domed sapphire is $53. I am not sure the bezel is worth 105 to me.

They used plastic on the Arnold and it’s held up just fine.
Nice work on the review, Pterry!

^^^Don't think he added the metal shroud.
Re: Seiko SNE498 arrived
Steel shroud makes things interesting. SNE497 could mod to stainless or DLC
I kinda dig the Golden 498 though. Like I need another watch

Looks great even with plastic. Probably lighter and cheaper to replace the plastic shroud anyway if it gets damaged

Re: Seiko SNE498 arrived
Couldn’t take it anymore and mine should be here Monday.
From the looks of it this is going to wear perfectly on the wrist. Still undecided on the metal shroud. Hopefully this scratches my Tuna itch at less than half the normal price.

Size is perfect. I happened to buy Pat’s 015 Tuna last week after being Tuna-less for 4 years.... otherwise I would have ordered one of these in an instant. These look a tad smaller than the SBBN 015/017 Tuna’s.

The size looks amazing, they will sell these by the boatload.
I’m moving for work right now, will get one once I’m settled in a month or so.
I will be in Asia often from now on so hopefully I’ll have the opportunity to snag one cheap.
I’ll touch Japan, Korea, Vietnam, HK, Thailand and Singapore in September, maybe I’ll see one in the wild.
Oh and cheap in Asia is not a thing. I have never had any luck finding a watch cheap there. This one is $292 through Mimo's

Re: Seiko SNE498 arrived
Well this showed up today and I’ve gotta say, Seiko did a good job with this one. Gives me all the Tuna vibes at half the Tuna price. Different color scheme than what I usually go for so it’s a nice change of pace. And I was afraid it may be a little too light with the plastic shroud but it’s got some decent heft to it. I probably won’t bother with Yobokies metal shroud unless something happens to this one. Feels like a lot of watch for sub $300.
