Hey guys --- Anyone interested, I'll probably putting my 498 Golden Tuna up for sale later this week. I have the Silver version arriving on Friday from Hong Kong.

Anyone that expressed interest in a SNE498 send me a PM. Thanks.

Newly arrived Solar Tuna SNE497P1. Four days delivery from Hong Kong. I took the stock rubber off, tried a few different straps and ended up with it on a black Nato with silver hardware. I really like this one.

Yes, It came on a Seiko Oyster style bracelet. (oops I mistakenly said above it came on rubber).

The SNE497P1 (Silver) isn't available in the USA like the Golden Tuna & PADI versions are. The silver version you have to source through Asia.

This would be killer with a brushed SS shroud, hopefully there's one available.
Quick questions if you don't mind:

1- how's the bracelet and clasp? What would be the closest comparison in terms of quality? Ie SKX, Sarb or Tuna quality?

2- where did you buy it for and how much? I'll be all across Asia in September, and could secure one in HK, SG, Thai, Vietnam, South Korea or Japan. Wherever it's cheaper.

Thanks a lot for your help
- Yes, SS shroud would look good but it would look too close to my 015 Tuna that I already own. I have a PVD SS shroud on the way for this 497P1 from Harold (Yobokies).

- Bracelet and clasp are typical Seiko mid-level quality. About the same as the Prospex Turtle bracelet.

- I purchased mine from the ebay dealer Spot-on-Times, a Hong Kong dealer. I made an offer and they accepted it. I originally had contacted Mimo's in California and asked if they could get it for me. They said Seiko doesn't offer this Silver model to it's US dealers.

Well, this thing is awesome, love the color scheme, great size and sits low on the wrist (thanks DEMO!)... I'm really tempted to also get the SS version:

On the OEM rubber:

Congrats and it is awesome! I was surprised how much I like the color combo as well.

Mine's heading to the beach with me tomorrow.

I think this looks better than the regular quartz Tuna. These hands are much better, closer to the original version.

I like the SS version Dave. I just couldn't get it for the same price as the Fools Gold Tuna. So I passed on it.

I really love this watch a lot.

So I bought two of these under the recent Macy's VIP deal with 20% ebates rebate. Actually, the reason for both was because the ebates rebate didn't stick on the first for some reason so we ordered another. One gets sent back

The first came today and the other tomorrow.

As an OG tuna owner it's a sweet piece of kit. Don't get all the crown-stem hype.

But there was a PROBLEM. Everything was perfect... bezel, second hand alignment, and chapter ring alignment was perfect... until I took it outside in natural light. The bezel resin is smeared -- almost like a bubbling or paint brush effect which is hard to capture in pics -- along the 20-30 bezel marks. Maybe as part of the curing process?

Hopefully tomorrow's delivery is better. :banghead: I'll return one of them because of the lack of applied ebates.

It’s a sweet watch no doubt so fingers crossed for tomorrow. If the chapter ring or second hand alignment is off on the second delivery I’ll make an exception at $230 on the first.

Terry, what are your thoughts on the dlc shroud? What cosmetic treatments can be done to a raw SS shroud, assuming he sells one?

I know a guy who does Glock cerakoting in any pattern and color-match you wish. Wonder if that’s a more durable option than dlc?

He sells a raw SS shroud also. I like the upgraded shroud but for the cost it might be a toss up. It is worth it if it matters to you. The stock one is fine though.

Cerakote is definitely not stronger. Cerakote is a layer on top of the metal. So it will scratch off. Also with how tight the clearances are between the bezel and shroud I bet the cerakote will get rubbed right off.

Nice subtle mod with the second hand Terry. Seiko not using that one anymore irritates me. I like the shroud, just not sure I like the price. Overall I love everything about the watch so I'll be enjoying mine for a while.

Duarte orders the hands for me from Seiko. I love the meatball.

Second watch delivered and perfect! Yippie!

I managed to capture the bezel of the first delivery next to today's delivery. Check the bezel at 20-30. Keeper on wrist.
