Holy ridiculous pricing Batman...

Post by Torrid » Wed May 09, 2018 9:10 am

So I was discussing the crazy pricing of Seikos that have been discontinued last night with my wife which was brought up because she bought me a SARB033 for Christmas and they had recently been discontinued.

Anyway, I can across this listing for a watch I don’t recall even getting 5 minutes of attention when it came out and I’m sure this one was less than $400. If you missed out on this wonderful “iconic” piece, here’s your chance to own for a mere pittance of $850.

I've seen that quite a bit over there lately, the Monsters being prime examples. The word discontinued apparently makes buyers want to pay 2-3 times what they are worth.

I like that one, and feel your pain, Heath. At some point early on, I knew I wanted a 7A28 Gen 1 chronograph, but didn't know enough about RAF issued watches to feel comfortable. The search ultimately led me to the SNA029 quartz chronograph, which was a modern 200m quartz chrono but discontinued and long sold out for cheap prices on all the typical sites (Rakuten, Creation, Skywatches, etc.) I paid a big premium over those prices to get the only NOS example I could find. FNG move on my part, for sure

Prices on all watches seems to have gotten crazy lately. That’s if you can find them. The deals are few and far between anymore.

People will pay stupid prices sometimes. I once had someone PM me with an offer of $850 for my Bathys 100m. Quartz.

Quickest $600 I made ...

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think I’m pretty well set where I’m at right now which is good since I’ve noticed the same. If I’m getting anything else I have to put the Ball back up for sale as the other two I have were given to me, one of which was a gift from my wife and is one of my favorites. Seeing all these prices makes me have no desire to have much money sunk into a hobby.
