MM300 being discontinued
According to Seiya this is the case, along with a few others. Lots of speculation if another model number replaces the current SBDX017, but with the Prospex logo in place of Marinemaster.

Re: MM300 being discontinued
I’ve tried ordering one from both Chino and Gnomon within the past week and both contacted me afterwards saying it actually wasn’t in stock and they had no idea when they were getting a shipment. I guess this explains why.

Re: MM300 being discontinued
My used SBDX001 just increased in resale value.

Seiko. They could ef up a wet dream.
Re: MM300 being discontinued
That's a damn shame. Might need to make a move on an SBDX017 after all.
Re: MM300 being discontinued
This sucks.
Re: MM300 being discontinued
My finger has been hovering over the button to grab one from Seiya right now.

Re: MM300 being discontinued
The whole lack of parts comments in the 6159 thread makes me really think twice about higher-end Seiko's (despite owning one), and especially the wisdom of acquiring an MM300 now that it's being axed.
Re: MM300 being discontinued
Lucky, I bought mine from Seiya just a few weeks ago.
Surely they will release a new variant though?

Many will register, few will last
Re: MM300 being discontinued
My guess the new model will be something similar to SLA019 with sapphire crystal and new sapphire/ceramic-ish looking bezel insert. All imho are welcome upgrades to the older MM300.

Probably similar to the SLA025:Panerai7 wrote:My guess the new model will be something similar to SLA019 with sapphire crystal and new sapphire/ceramic-ish looking bezel insert. All imho are welcome upgrades to the older MM300.

I think it is probably smart for Seiko to discontinue the watch, as long as they give us something better to replace it. They have been on the market now for 15+ years mostly unchanged and is no longer the technology showcase it once was Watches in their own lineup like the SBDC051 have similar finishing and have a sapphire crystal for less than half the cost.
Plenty still on the used market for collectors.

Re: MM300 being discontinued
Exactly. Most people buy and flip anyways. It's a "for more than a minute" watch for very few people.dnslater wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2018 2:38 amI think it is probably smart for Seiko to discontinue the watch, as long as they give us something better to replace it. Far past time for an update.
Re: MM300 being discontinued
An update would be nice. However, and this is a big one, it's almost a guarantee that the new one will have the Prospex logo on the dial. Some don't mind it, many hate it, but almost no one actually likes it.
Re: MM300 being discontinued
The logo doesn't bother me that much, I am more concerned about the price point going up significantly.
I would like a sapphire crystal though.

Re: MM300 being discontinued
I have a feeling pre-X seiko will become a thing as all their watches are getting the damn X.
The only one left will be our beloved skx007/009...

Re: MM300 being discontinued
I’m sure the 007 won’t be long. I figured it would have been discontinued with the release of the cushion case series.
Re: MM300 being discontinued
I guess I’ll have to hold onto my MM300.
