Incoming.....Seiko SBP053
Just in: the blue dial SBP053 and she’s a beauty!
....leave it to me to get the one that’s not perfect
While it’s pretty close on the 12 marker, I see a couple hour markers that don’t appear centered between their corresponding minute ticks. It seems like just a hair or two and had I not been looking for it I'd have never noticed. Still excellent compared to every other Seiko I've owned, save for the GS Diver and maybe MM300.
Bezel feels good and the blue is beautiful.
If there was a polished chapter ring that would fit, I’d have that done.
Here she is in grey Perlon.
Toxic Admiralty
Maratac grey
Toxic CRC
Maratac Orange
Maratac Black
Black Perlon “Panama”
Nice and thin, hugs the wrist with a single layer strap.
Here’s a thick Perlon by Eulit. It’s called the “Palma” and it’s a little different that other Perlon straps. The buckle is sewn-in and it thick like a Zulu. Not adjustable, but you can still push the buckle pin in the strap anywhere.

Looks awesome Hop, I'm tempted. How big is your wrist? The one thing holding me back is the L2L.....any thoughts on a comparison size wise to a MM300 or Sumo?

My wrist is about 7.7” right now. Remember, just like male porn stars, watch heads look larger in photos.5661nicholas wrote:Looks awesome Hop, I'm tempted. How big is your wrist? The one thing holding me back is the L2L.....any thoughts on a comparison size wise to a MM300 or Sumo?

Here are some comparison shots:
With 16600 Sea Dweller (same basic size as any 5-digit Rolex)
With Sinn 1.1

Re: Incoming.....Seiko SBP053
How's the quality vs. the SLA017??
Re: Incoming.....Seiko SBP053
Considering the 017 was $3500 and this is 1/7th the price, the quality is amazing. It’s nicer than any Shogun I’ve owned, nicer than any Sumo I’ve seen, and IMO closer to the MM300 than the other two. The MM300 dial is certainly nicer and it’s bezel somewhat more expensive feeling, but this feels nicer that a $1000 Seiko.dosei wrote:How's the quality vs. the SLA017??
I probably shouldn’t have bought it, as I was honestly trying to get to a solid trio of watches to rotate between. This was an impulse buy. It’s nice, but now something must go....likely this.

That is by far the best combo of all you posted, in color, thickness and texture.hoppyjr wrote:......and the perfect strap?

I don’t think the perlon works well on it. Too substantial a watch.
This works very well.
That blue dial is top notch. Seems everyone can do a nice blue dial but Tudor Pelagos

🤭 we didn’t see that coming
Seemed like a great size for you and that blue is hot. But I get it
I don’t know what it is about this Watch, it’s got great specs, great case and finish, gorgeous blue... yet I’m not in love
